English Rose Inn, Montgomery Center

We have been going to the English Rose Inn for 5 years. The Innkeepers have always be very accommodating and warm during our stay. While talking to Mrs Innkeeper last winter I discovered she had major surgery the end of January and was going to receive treatments for several more weeks. I feel the previous statements mistakenly perceived what to be burnout and rude, only the effects of feeling very ill. We are returning again this winter (already made reservations) and recommend the ERI to anyone looking for a comfortable stay, amazing breakfasts and dinners.

The inn keeper was rather rude at times. very tacky and gawdy. It was ok because of its location close to the mountain but other than that i would not reccomend it

Mrs. Innkeeper was very unapproachable from the moment we walked in. She was very stale and matter-of-fact about every aspect of our weekend - just didn't get the warm and fuzzy feeling from her at all. For an Inn that is very close to Jay Peak (where the lifts open at 8:30 a.m.), we were surprised that breakfast is served from 8-9am - certainly didn't cater to skiiers who like to be first out on the slopes. The breakfast was so-so. We were surprised to be served chocolate muffins and toast (white bread) - sure seemed like something that belonged on a kids' menu. Dinner, however, was outstanding but again, the Innkeeper who served the meal was almost border-line annoyed at our group at times. Again, just didn't get a warm, inviting feeling from her at all. The Inn's dog (Cody) was very cool and a friendly dog - friendlier than Mrs. Innkeeper. I'd have to say that he made the trip worth while - very cute dog and playful but not worth making a trip back anytime soon. Not sure if the Innkeeper is suffering from burn-out in the B&B world but we were certainly left with that impression.
