We took our three dogs with us to the Phineas Swann for four nights and got to stay in the lovely Bulldog Suite in the Carriage House. The hosts were terrific and helped to make our wedding anniversary memorable and wonderful. They offer many amenities (snacks and sodas throughout the day; detailed descriptions and tailored-to-you touring routes of drives of the surrounding area; DVD players and a DVD library; dog walking and sitting while you go out, etc.) and seem to really enjoy their jobs as innkeepers/owners. They made a fuss over our dogs and provided a lot of towels, dog-hair-remover tools, dog bones, and dog beds to keep everyone happy. It was a great trip and we are thankful we learned about this place online. They have one of the better B and B websites, too, with lots of information about the inn and the surrounding area. And, as the other reviewers report, the breakfasts were fantastic!
I was only allowed to give it 5 stars, but this Inn deserves a 100!!
From the moment you drive in, you feel like you are back to your childhood home. So inviting and relaxing. Jay and John were the epitome of the PERFECT HOSTS!! We feel like we made friends for a lifetime! My husband and I were their celebrating our wedding anniversary and could not have been more pleased with our choice of Bed and Breakfasts! The food was the most delicious and plentiful I have ever eaten. The Inn was tastefully decorated. Luxurious but not stuffy. We stayed in one of the River House rooms and have never felt more relaxed and pampered! To just read our description and not visit this romantic, cozy, elegant B&B would be almost sinful!! I HIGHLY recommend this most exquisite of Inns and can promise you, like us, you will leave having not one complaint and a million reasons to return!
Thanks you John and Jay for making this the most wonderful weekend for Ryan and I!! We will see you again in December!! I just can't wait!!
This has got to be the most luxurious bed and breakfast in Vermont. We have stayed in dozens of bed and breakfasts all over the USA and in England, and have never been so impressed with the service and amenities. They have a baby grand player piano in the "music room", a roaring fireplace with leather sofas and recliners in the lounge, a TV room with a huge plasma television, hot tub, jacuzzi baths, free phone calls, more food than you could possibly eat for breakfast (they even give you doggie bags of extras to take with you when you leave!!!). The beds were the most comfortable I have ever slept in. They are right near Jay Peak (we were there to ski for a weekend). They just remodeled the entire place, and it looks like no expense was spared. We brought our dog with us (sadie) and they were incredibly accomodating. They even had a dog bed and dog bowls in the room waiting for us, along with a rawhide chew for her!! We can't say enough about this place. A little more expensive than some of the other places we have stayed before, but more than worth it!!!
