Captain Swift established Maine's first passenger schooner at this Federal style, white clapboard village landmark inn that was originally built for lumber merchant Simon Hunt during the presidency of James Madison. The house contains original wide pine floors, exposed beams, and five fireplaces. All of the guest rooms are decorated with period pieces and reproductions and all rooms include quilts, down pillows, and private baths. A full breakfast is included.
