Simplicity and serenity

I planned a trip to Mt. Rushmore for my children in the summer of 2002. All the hotels were booked up, but a woman at Custer State Park mentioned Ghost Canyon Ranch Bed and Breakfast. I contacted Judy and made arrangements to spend a week. My children and I had the most wonderful week. We hiked the national forest, visited Mt. Rushmore Cave, and saw the Presidents on the mountain to name a few activities. But the best part of the whole trip was staying in the bunk house at Ghost Canyon. The boys took the bed and trundle in the main room, while the girls shared a room, and I had the "horse" room which looked upon the forest. Ah, the serenity I felt in that simple bunk house! I still think about it when I want to "get away."
Rich and Judy are friendly inn keepers who truly enjoy their work. They make it seem so easy because they're comfortable in their skin. They chatted with us while we ate their scrumptuous breakfasts. I felt like I was visiting family. In fact, we were so enamored with Ghost Canyon Bed and Breakfast that I dragged my husband and kids back for Christmas of 2003. We skiied at one of the nearby slopes. My husband also felt at home there. We will go back!
I keep a scrapbook of my trips to Ghost Canyon Ranch Bed and Breakfast and when I feel stressed with life's pressures, I take out my book and dream of my next trip there! Go and find the serenity in the simplicity of the bunk house.
