Vermont as it should be,warm, and wonderful
The innkeeper Amy is gracious, welcoming, and a great cook. Breakfast served in the formal dining room, fresh, delicious, and a great way to start any day. Soft comfortable beds, gorgeous views out the windows, and the run of the house is the way it should be. Lounging in front of the open face wood stove, watching the big screen TV with a handmade quilt warapped around you made me feel like I was home. The details of the Inn are spot on. It's an old farmhouse, and it feels like on. The decor is well thought out, and quaint in it's look.....I felt like I was at my Grandmothers home!
The Woodbridge Inn Coffee House and Cafe just down the street has fresh baked goods, hot coffees and teas, and if you happen to get there for a weekend diner...try to Lasagna!!
I had always thought of Lasagna as hearty pheasant food, but Amy cooks it different. It is elegant, and the first mouthful explodes with a complexity of flavors.........firstly you taste the sweet, not over powering, tomato sauce. Then the creamy, smooth rigotta filling, and finally the hot, melted cheese topping done just right under the broiler. It's to die for, truly.
We had such a wonderful time in Vermont. As I said, I felt at home, and will surely be making my reservations for the fall foliage season REAL soon!
