Port City Victorian Inn, Muskegon

Planning a little fun with my daughter and thought we might try a different kind of lodging. So we tried this B & B and what a mistake. The owners were so very rude and unprofessional. I angered them when my travel arrangements had to change due to work schedules changing. I gave them a weeks notice and when they called me back after 2 days, very nastily told me I would be paying for two nights because the cancellation policy on their website stated 14 days notice. Wow, really.... but I said ok and never was rude back. I then did not realize there was "an arrive by" time because on my confirmation, none of this information was stated and as I said, this was my first try with a B & B. So I did however know to call them and say I would be arriving late; around 7 pm out of courtesy and they said ok. The event I was attending did not wrap up until about 7:10 pm and I got a very rude call from the owner saying "you said you would arrive at 7 pm and it is 7:10 and we are going to dinner and done waiting for you. We will be gone for about an hour and a half, you can check in then" When I received their nasty message, I did call back and let them know I was close to arriving and the response was "Just get here"... When I did arrive I was treated so rudely and he had already ran my credit card and billed for the entire stay stating that "when people dont arrive on time, we run their card and bill them." So unfortunately there is more, but no one would need anymore to know not to stay here. For a small business, in a small town in tough economic conditions, they were not very consumer friendly. I travel all over the country and found it sad to be treated so rudely. They surely did not meet their slogan "hospitality, the old fashioned way" unless they know hospitality to be rude and hostile. Would never recommend this B & B to anyone..
