Perfect Night!
By ,
Had a great room and the view outside was spectacular! The desk made us feel welcome and we talked to them everytime we left the hotel. Only thing i would suggest is booking this at SweetHotelDeals. Net

Not a 4 Star Hotel
By ,
Checked into a hot stuffy room at 4PM, set the AC to 72F and left. Returned at 11PM to an 82F room. We were told the AC is controlled by motion sensors and shuts off when you leave. It took an hour to cool the room. The bed is fixed to the floor so close to the window an adult cannot get out on that side. The blankets were stained. You would be more comfortable sleeping in the well appointed lobby

Great place!
By ,
I thought location was good (near Marquette), the room was elegant, and the service and lobby were wonderful. Neat place to stay. If you are a conservative and /or think Applebee's serves good food, this may not be the place for you. If you like character and charm, it can't be beat. I could see the lake from my room.

WORST EXPERIENCE
By ,
I must admit I was expecting a lot- I had rented the King Whirlpool Suit for my husband as a birthday surprise. However, not only was I let down, I was downright disgusted. First the front service desk is quite possibly one of the rudest group of individuals I have come across in Milwaukee. When I visit Milwaukee I often comment on how nice the people are - well that is because all the hostel folks work for this hotel. The young man at the desk told us to wait aggressively while he 'yelled' at another hotel guest over the phone to move their car. He then threw the keys at us and didn't even tell us our room number let alone welcome and have a nice day. We get to our room - one of the priciest rooms in the hotel. Not only is the room underwhelming, but it was DIRTY! We had BLOOD stains on our sheets and black marks all over the comforter. HOW DO YOU MISS BLOOD STAINS ON SHEETS! The best part is that when I called downstairs she didn't seem surprised by my findings, she didn't apologize, and she said she'd send someone up. 45 minutes later someone came. She changed our sheets with the door wide open as we sat on the couch as if punished. The housekeeper was muttering to herself the entire time- and at no point did anyone seem disgusted by what they saw- which is what disturbed me the most. We paid $273 for this room. NEVER AGAIN. Go to County Clare. The room looks roughly the same (it also has a whirlpool) the rate is $145 and they are very hospitable and most importantly CLEAN!

Outstanding
By ,
If you like the elegance of the Art Deco movement, I'd highly recommend a stay at the Ambassador. The staff was exceptional, the lobby impressive, the room was comfortable and well appointed, and the location was very convenient for the business I had in Milwaukee. I honestly couldn't find any details that were overlooked, and my stay could not have been better. My schedule didn't allow me to eat at the restaurant, but the Pomme Frites at their Envoy bar were alone worth another visit to the hotel. If the restaurant does as many things right as the rest of the hotel, I'm sure they serve a memorable meal. I'm putting this place on my favorite list, and I recommend it without hesitation.

Not what I expected
By ,
Thought it was located in central downtown, but had to drive 15 blocks out of central to a seedy section of town. Parking lot is outside...not good in Feb. Room was small with no closet. Very old building, but clean and well decorated. If you are looking for an old fashion type Hotel this is your place. I did stay in a Queen room and King should be larger. Got best price just booking through hotel on internet.

Loved it!
By ,
I loved my stay at this hotel. I found the staff to be helpful and well mannered. This is the first time that I have ever been in a hotel and didn't feel like there were traces of the last person(s) left over. Which says a lot about the housekeeping staff. I loved the elevators which has to be seen to be believed. I have noticed other peoples comments about this neighborhood and at a loss as to what they were talking about. Having lived in a large city and traveled all over this country, I didn't have any concerns about this area. Maybe this is a bad neighborhood for the midwest/Milwaukee but I wasn't seeing anything that would cause concern or prevented me from taking a walk at night. The other thing that I enjoyed was how quiet and dark our room was once we pulled the drapes. When I woke up I thought it was going to be a cold and overcast day, until I pulled back the drapes to see a bright sunny morning. Staying here is worth every penny.

i'll go back
By ,
pros: very nice shuttle drivers that take you anywhere you want to go in the area (must wait ~15 minutes for pick ups though); very comfortable beds (new); good for the price on hotwire; nice thick towels, liked the slippers; desk looked new; pretty clean cons: small bathroom with narrow tub/shower; visually neighborhood questionable but apparently they've really cleaned neighborhood up last few years (i'd stay agian); thin walls - neighbors went to their room and sounded like they were coming into ours... as far as service, hard to tell since we were pretty low maintenance...

Had A Wonderful Stay
By ,
My wife and I needed some alone time and We decided to get away to Milwaukee for the weekend (we had never been there before). Came across the Ambassador Hotel while surfing on the internet and decided to try it out. We were pleasantly blown away by what we found. The room was very large although the bathroom was on the small side. The hotel is just west of Marquette and very close to all major attractions. If you are not use to urban surroundings, the location may turn you off. The only downside was the service staff. Our stay include tours of both the Sprechers' and Miller breweries. When we asked the desk clerk about it, she said we had to set up the tour ourselves. No one really goes out of their way to help. Despite that, We can't wait for our next trip to Milwaukee

Warning: don't belive the hype.
By ,
We had high hopes after reading a review of this renovated Milwaukee landmark. In every aspect of our stay, it fell short of our expectations. First of all, our room was grimey and had a nasty odor. Second, given the neighborhood where this hotel is located, it is seriously in need of a security detail. Third, the service was slow, the employees were rude, and the food/drinks were sub-par. Enough art deco flair to choke a goat, however I would never stay there again. This hotel is full of shady people in a scary part of town. For god's sake, don't bring your family here!
