Wonderfull Stay
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/11
We are from Vermont, The Stepping Stone was the only place that had any room. Talk about a stroke of luck to hit the perfect place for our first time at a B&B. Perfectly located in the middle of it all, John runs a great place and when we had car problems was right there to direct us to the right people. Upon arrival he treats you like family you'll love it.

A pleasant enough stay ...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 5/2/10
First let me start by saying the innkeeper John is a wonderful person, very friendly and dedicated. The inn is located right off the green and makes walking to all the Salem Sites easy for most people. We stayed on the 3rd floor, a room with 2 queen size beds. April temperatures were cool outside and those temps seemed to permeate through the walls as wel could not warm up, nor could we find a thermostat to turn the heat on. The private bathrooom located just outside of the room was tiny and very dusty, as if no one had used a duster in there for months. The beds were comfortable and the room was spacious. The continental breakfast "sugary mini boxed cereals", fresh strawberries that were very tart and homemade bread cut so thin I could see through was somewhat of a shock. Really, it's almost a bother to eat it, I'd recommend just eating breakfast out as this fare was only a tease. Overall, our stay was fine, comfortable enough for a couple of nights, reasonably priced and located just where everyone wants to be. Parking was terrible, there is only one spot, way behind the building and it's not meant for a large car, so get there early to snag the spot or good luck with on street parking. Would I recommend this B&B ... maybe, but not to the most discriminating of guests.

Feels like home
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/6/09
Have been to this inn twice, can't wait to go back. John is a really nice guy that seems to love the inn and the guests. We are now planning our third trip with the whole family (four children), and are hoping we will be able to stay here again.

Long Standing Tradition
By JohnP, 8/12/08
A group of friends and I went to this Inn way WAY back in High School and I have been back at least 5 times since then with different people. Nice to see that the same owner still is the Innkeeper. Right in the middle of all the best things to do and see in Salem Commons. Good food and attentive to the small details. John Brick makes you feel like family and happy to come home again and again.

Charming
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/3/07
The Views of the Common are exceptional. The Resident Cat is so sweet and the owner is too. Walking distance from all of downtown Salem. A nice break from a big crowded hotel !!

historic charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/5/07
I absolutely LOVED staying at this charming inn. We got the room on the top floor, and were warned that the ceilings were low. It was only because it's an attic-type space, and we're average-sized people, so it didn't affect us. In fact, it just added to the charm. I loved the decor, and the fact that the house is historical without the modern hotel amenities. To me, that's what staying at a B & B is all about. The innkeeper could not have been friendlier, and the resident kitty, Miss Bridgette, was very welcoming as well. We were instant friends! The breakfast accommodations took us by surprise, to say the least. Cold cereal is not my idea of a good time. But there was yummy bread, and fresh fruit to fill the gap. The 2nd and 3rd day, we actually went down the road and had breakfast at a little cafe, because, unless you're under 12, you won't be impressed with the breakfast here. The shower was small, yes, but the water pressure was so great that I hardly noticed I didn't have room to shave my legs. Just soap up the walls, raise your arms up, and spin around, and you're good to go. hah Okay, it's not really THAT small. Overall, a great place to spend a few days. Bring your own toiletries and blow-dryer. And give Miss Bridgette a pat for me.
