Historical Role Playing
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/11/08
My daughter, Jessica, and I have stayed at Felt Manor several times. We've nearly made our rounds of the rooms! Another daughter, Kristen, joined us on our last visit when we stayed in the "Susan" room. I brought Victorian style white nightgowns for each of us which added to the fun. Laura's breakfasts and High Teas are just the right touch and always delicious. With proper planning one can skip lunch and dinner and just go down to Main St. for an ice cream as an evening snack. As a host, Laura is without par. She even supplied apples for us to take to Eagle Ridge when we went horseback riding. I move East to Boston nearly 10 years ago and have not been back to Galena but the town and Felt Manor have a permanent place in my favorite memories.

Best Place in Town
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/27/07
We have enjoyed the Felt Manor over the last 14 years. We have stayed during all the seasons and have been able to make use of the "Manor" just like home. The Host, Hostess and staff are very accomindating. They have made reservations for dinner, horse back riding and many other activities. If you have not stayed at the Felt Manor you must do so on the next visit. Brian & Kristell McCorkle

The absolute best!
By MrChiGuy, 12/23/05
From the time we made our reservation until the regretful end of our stay, we were treated like honored guests. Laura was such an amazing and charming hostess! If you're looking for a place to stay in Galena, look no further than Felt Manor. When we made our reservation, Laura took the time to get to know us a little bit. She asked about any dietary restrictions or preferences we had, and she also graciously secured all of our dinner reservations for the very busy holiday weekend. We arrived late Friday evening, and were greeted by a buffet of tea, homemade pastries, wines and sherry all set in her lovely Victorian parlor. We immediately felt at home. There was a little surprise for us when we arrived in our room, too! The home is lovely, and much attention is paid to details. There is no shortage of reading material or games, if you want to hang out inside or you can just relax and unwind on either of the two scenic porches. The house is situated high above the town, within close walking distance, and provides a beautiful view. Laura and her husband Dan do not take breakfast lightly. If you're used to having a danish and coffee, you'll be amazed by the bountiful and elaborate gourmet breakfast you will receive each morning. Things such as fruit creme brulee, home baked pumpkin bread, peach souflee, eggs benedict, sugar dusted maple cured bacon, vegetable quiche and more are not uncommon. As if this isn't enough, Saturday afternoons boast a "tea" like we've never seen before. If you're eating dinner out that night, you'd better make a late reservation, because the spread is not to be believed. We don't want to give away all of Laura's secrets, but trust us, you'll not be disappointed. In summary, Felt Manor is more than just a beautiful Victorian home. It's one of life's very special treasures. Come with an appetite and a appreciation for gracious hospitality. These are truly people who love what they do, and you'll feel like an old friend by the time you leave.
