Yelton Manor Bed & Breakfast, South Haven

The title for this review was spoken by innkeeper Elaine at breakfast yesterday as she cleared the table of a couple of young parents on a vacation from their young children. This was just one of the many sweet and kind moments we experienced in the hands of the yelton manor staff. Thoughtfully placed dishes of assorted small chocolates, a never empty popcorn machine, ice cold mint water, beautifully set breakfast tables, fluffy white towels, tightly made beds, scoops of fresh ice for our bicycle water bottles, the niceties never ended as we thoroughly enjoyed our three nights at the Yelton! We will certainly return again!

We loved The Yelton Manor B&B!!! The beach of Lake Michigan is right out the front door, but the inn is just as much of a destination! Great hosts, healthy great food, wonderful luxury, dreamy gardens. We will be return guests again and again!

My husband and I are avid B&B fans, and we always choose this intimate, clean, homey way to travel. We were thrilled with all aspects of The Yelton Manor B&B! The beach of Lake Michigan is what attracted us to the area, and South Haven is a very quaint and friendlly resort town with nice restaurants and cute little stores. But the Yelton Manor is the true destination in itself. From the moment we arrived and saw the flower gardens surrounding on all sides we were charmed. We were warmly greeted and welcomed into a MOST beautiful home, HUGE and beautifully decorated with antiques, real art, comfortable furniture, many well thought out pleasures like books, magazines, games, movies, etc. The hosts, longtime owners, clearly love being innkeepers and were available for everything we needed, dining suggestions, bike rental, wine tour info, etc. There were wonderful snacks available at all hours, but the star of the show was breakfast! A huge buffet of homemade, healthy food, all the choices you could imagine. We enjoyed the open kitchen and the opportunity to sit and chat as food was being prepared. The attitude is so fresh and fun, we felt like family. There is SO much more: fluffy towels, oatmeal soap, pressed linens, the screened in porch full of ferns, the music provided in each room and the wonderful soft music playing throughout the inn, I could go on and on. The Yelton Manor was immediately our favorite inn anywhere, the gold standard by which we will judge all others...IF we ever go to another, hahaha. Just awesome, period!!!

Yelton Manor Bed and Breakfast is AMAZING!!!!!! We spent a fall getaway in late season Indian Summer, a lovely, uncrowded time on the beach of Lake Michigan with apples, pumpkins and fresh farm cider everywhere! But the best part was this amazing inn! We were warmly welcomed and immediately felt at home. Our room was very lovely and everything was fresh and well cared for. Every delight is considered and delivered. The food was delicious and there were so many healthy options, including organic food. Elaine, the innkeeper, freezes and cans local harvest and it makes the food very special. The brownies and cookies were also great, and the huge movie-sized popcorn machine delivers old fashioned popcorn too. The gardens were lovely, the town quaint and friendly. I purchased 3 gift certificates for holiday giving and I can't wait for my family to experience this wonderful inn. Many thanks to all who provide such a loving getaway!

I rarely write online reviews, but Yelton Manor B&B deserves to be raved about!!!! My husband and I enjoyed a 3 day getaway for our anniversary and loved everything about The Yelton Manor!! The gorgeous beach was the place to be every day, as we were in a lovely Indian Summer in October and the beaches were deserted! The food at the inn was remarkable, very delicious, especially nice because i am a vegetarian and my husband is gluten intolerant and all sorts of fresh options were readily available to us. The inn is very large and in two houses, but the innkeepers make sure that every guest gets hands on service and warm attention, then privacy is protected, I was impressed by that. The small town is adorable and we enjoyed the little shops and the relaxed vibe. This is now our home away from home ALWAYS, just 2 hours from the hectic life in Chicago is this slice of heaven!!!

We have stayed at Yelton Manor over the Labor Day weekend. The house is lovely, very neat, with lots of nooks and crannies and many personal touches. We have travelled allover the world and have stayed in different hotels and BBs. For the price of $300.00/night, our expectations were rather high. To our surprise, our room was very small and dark. Breakfast was average, but the snacks were delicious (Thank you Robert). Very annoying part of the stay was too many restrictions posted by the innkeeper who made us feel very uncomfortable and not very welcome (it’s difficult to relax when someone is always watching over your shoulder). However, I have to give a credit to the innkeeper for solving an unruly neighbors issue very quickly. Advise to the innkeeper: “All successful bed and breakfasts have one thing in common: owners who like people! Anyone seriously thinking about opening a bed and breakfast must like people and be able to deal with all types of people. This is a people business! You must also be willing to sacrifice a big part of your personal life since guests will be living with you”

Best inn anywhere for us, we had a great time. Location is excellent, we loved the sandy beach of Lake Michigan and the cute littlere sort town just around the corner. Sat in the beautiful gardens drinking wine and relaxing for three days, LOL! The inn is wonderful, very comfortable. Full of delights. Super great hosts, helped us get bikes delivered AND picked up and we enjoyed riding on the local trails. It was an easy, fun, relaxing vacation. I also recommend all the recipes on the inn's website, I have been using them all with great success after enjoying the wonderful food at the B&B. Also, the coffee they serve is really, really good.

Everything about Yelton Manor was wonderful and met our very high standards for excellence in hospitality, location and luxury. The Yelton is now our GO TO spot for all celebrations and restful getaways. LOVED the great food, very fresh and delicious. The innkeepers were gracious and a lot of fun, there when you need them, out of sight when you want to be private. The gardens are huge and beautiful, even in the fall. The beach is steps out the door and spectacular. This is a DO NOT MISS destination inn, books, movies, lots of great amenities, fluffy towels, totally clean everywhere like brand new. Astonishing find, absolutely recommended.

We were blown away by the huge flower gardens, the fabulous food, the luxury and cleanliness, the warm hospitality, this B&B is the most 1st class lodging imaginable. WELL worth the price, unbelievably wonderful!

We escape to the beach from Chicago a couple times a year and have stayed at a lot of inns around Harbor Country and Saugatuck. Turns out the very best B&B is smack in between, in the cute harbor town of South Haven. Yelton Manor is surrounded by the most beautiful gardens I have ever seen outside of municipal botanical parks. Inside, 1000s of books and movies, just in case you get rained out. Service is very big here, the innkeepers want everything to be perfect for each individual guest, we were delighted that they quickly and expertly crafted a special meal for us. They also knew exactly which restaurants could help us locally. The inn is amazingly clean, everything looks brand new, very cared for. Laughter is big at The Yelton too, the entire staff seems happy and very in touch. For us, there is no other getaway place anywhere. Hooray for Yelton Manor B&B, which made us feel like honored guests and good friends too.
