Meh.
It was ok. The Town Square Hotel is an easy walking distance from the Metra Station. As our main intention was to visit Chicago, this worked out very well. Downtown Woodstock is as good a place as any to begin and end a day, especially after the hustle and bustle of Chicago. The room itself was clean and airy. The check-in/out procedure was efficient and the staff was friendly and helpful. On the other hand the room was not that quiet largely due to a surprising amount of nightlife in Woodstock which extends well beyond midnight. The wi-fi reception was very weak and intermittent. The curtains were entirely inadequate to keep out the early morning sun. We never actually saw the proprietor, which made it all a bit impersonal. This is not a complaint per se, as we have stayed at Omenahotelli in Finland. Omenahotelli allows you to make a reservation on-line and then forwards electronic access codes to you, obviating the need for a check-in desk et al. It's actually pretty slick. The tradeoff to being treated like an e-mail address is that it really was a value. I can't say the same about the Town Square Inn.
