Go elsewhere, anywhere else!!

The location and access to Lake Michigan made this inn a top choice for us to celebrate our wedding anniversary. The images of the rooms looked nice and were mostly clean aside from the tub being a bit dirty. The fact that a restaurant with good reviews was also on the premises sounded fantastic! Boy, were we wrong! They really need to rethink this concept! From the moment we checked in, around 9 p.m. on a Friday, the entire inn was loud and bustling with people. All of the guest rooms are located directly above the busy restaurant and we could actually hear people's conversations from within our room! I went down and asked at the front desk what time the restaurant was supposed to close because we were tired after a long day of traveling and walking in Chicago and the loud drunkards were making it impossible to relax. The hostess said 9:00 or 9:30. Things didn't quiet down until after 11:30 p.m. and the constant slamming of the exterior door and bathrooms doors on the main level physically shook our room for hours. There is no temperature control in the rooms and we were freezing so we opened up the outside window. As the restaurant was closing up, the staff gathered outside to smoke which wafted up into our open window. We hoped our second night would be better. The next morning we were tired but excited because the inn provides a complimentary breakfast on weekend mornings and we wanted to check out the private beach. After getting violently ill from eating the breakfast, I was feeling tired and miserable and had to lay low for most of the day. Saturday evening was a repeat of Friday night but somehow things were actually louder than before! After attempting to sleep several times and even turning on the fan in the bathroom and cranking up the lame TV (which didn't get good reception) to drown out the racket, we were still continuously awoken by the slamming door, loud yelling drunk people, and general restaurant noise. We decided, after midnight, to drive two hours and just go home where we knew it was quiet and peaceful. This meant giving up our plans to tour local wineries the next day but we couldn't handle it any more. The supposed manager of the restaurant, observed us leaving the inn and never stopped to ask what was going on?! What a waste of money! People, please listen to me!! DO NOT stay at this inn!! It is expensive and totally not worth it, especially if you like sleep and peace. It is certainly not a place to celebrate your anniversary!

Wonderful Experience
By ,
I was just there for a bridal shower. The atmosphere was very nice and quaint. The food was outstanding, as well as the presentation. I had Ahi Tuna and it was great. I highly recommend it. The service was excellent, the wine and bloody mary's were good. It was clean. The bar area was nice. It was a great venue for a shower and I would defintely go back to try their dinner.

Great Getaway
By ,
Tucked away in the woods Duneland Beach Inn is a cute inn with eight rooms all recently remodeled. Our room had a jacuzzi tub and a great view. We noticed they had added a balcony on the second floor as a common area for all inn guests. It looked like a great place to enjoy a cup of coffee in the morning. Downstairs is a fine dining restaurant and bar. The atmosphere set the mood for a romantic evening and the service was amazing. You have to try a martini here. They make the best, and the filet my husband had was prepared to perfection. The staff was so accommodating and professional it helped make our stay memorable. We will be back again soon.

BEAUTIFUL BEACHES
By ,
my daughters and i had a lovely mini vacation at the duneland beach inn, however no water pressure in shower and also very cool in room at night. Staff not very helpful seemed more interested in what went on in restaurant then their in house guest. Offered dvd and video movies but no hook-up for the t.v. To play movies. On the brighter side just a 5 min. Walk to a gorgeus beach and surrounded by woods with lots of peace and quiet.

The jury's still out
By ,
We stayed in the Captain's quarters on Memorial Day weekend. The room was lovely and designed very well. No control over the airconditioning so we slept with the window open. Full breakfast was advertised with the room but nothing was offered and no staff was available. We decided to stay another night in the same room only to find that the sheets had not been changed. We ate dinner in the restaurant both nights and had cocktails in the bar. The bar staff was very friendly and accomodating. I don't mind paying top dollar for an above-average room but i do expect to receive above-average service. Not really sure we did...

Nice romantic inn
By ,
We liked the location to the private beach on Lake Michigan and the romantic atmosphere the Inn has created in its beautiful rooms. We stayed in the "Betty Arts" room with a jaccuzzi and found it to be a nice experience... The restuarant has great food and presented in an excellent display of its meals and there is a separate bar area for sitting around and chatting.. The two things we didn't like was the lack water pressure in the shower causing it to run out during the shower and the air conditioner was being run when our room was very cool and we couldn't shut off the vents in the ceiling because one set was bent open blowing directly on the bed... BBbbbrrrrrr! BUT the on positive note it made us want to cuddle more!!!
