Abel Darling B&B, Litchfield

We had a good experience at this B&B. It was very homey, casual, low stress, low key. Great location on Litchfield village green. Colleen was warm and couldn't have made us feel more welcome. We'll be back!

Owner was never there. Bed never changed. Towels never changed. (After the 3rd day found the linens and freshened the room our selves.) No key to our room so had to take camera, cell, laptop each time we went out. Breakfast was coffee, tea, toast and yogurt. We spent far too much money. Very disappointed.

This has to be the most unfriendly B & B we have ever visited. The owner is mostly absent and unhelpful. Outdated local restaurant menu's are in with outdated area information on shelves and in a basket located in the breakfast room. Very uninspired set-out breakfast. They offer no maid service in the rooms - do it yourself. It's on a main highway and traffic noise begins about 5am.

This is a wonderful B&B experience. The host is terrific, the location is the best in town - all other places I thought of staying were out on the highway and would have meant driving in to the center of town. At Abel Darling you can walk everywhere. You have complete access to a beautiful 18th century home right on the green and no one bothers you! Breakfast is wonderful. I would definitely recommend this to others and will stay again. Not to mention you can't beat the value. I have stayed in many B&Bs over the years and this is among my favorites.
