Disappointed - Overpriced & Lacked Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/08
Booked 2 rooms at the last minute for a 2 day vacation. 1 room in beach house and the other almost 2 miles away in the Winstead. Booked this hotel based on a few reviews, availability and the warm and friendly gentlemen that took the reservation (never met this outstanding host on the phone - nobody at the hotel was nearly as friendly or accomodating - they were all quite miserable and seemed very uphappy with their job) The Beach house is outdated and dowdy, breakfast is very average. rooms are far from luxurious - very average, beach and sitting area outside is very nice. Never seemed to have anyone at the front desk and when they were they barely could lift there head up to greet you - at this $$$$ a night this lack of hospitality is unforgiving. The Winstead Inn has very elegant rooms in the main house , our room was average and look more like a converted store front (chandler)..To get coffee, tea or any sort of drink you had to get in your car and travel 2 miles to the beach house in the morning. It is amazing to me that they do not provide a simple coffee/tea service in the main common area. The rooms in the main house were beautiful..but, no staff in site and no simple comforts such as soda's,coffee or tea to be found. (also, bring your own pillow - pillows are hard and uncomfortable and save your towels...very skimpy with the number of towels they leave in the bathroom) Even in our 'efficiency suite' with the sink and microwave r ..no coffee or tea to even make yourself. Unbelievable at these prices..Have stayed in hotels, inns on the cape for years...we'll stick to the Chatham Inns such as Wayside, Bradford Inn, Chatham Bars, Weyquesset..all several clicks up from this disappointing and overpriced inn.

Noisy and over priced
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/12/08
Completly overpriced for the value. Also the noise in the building- every toilet flushing, faucet running, shower flowing runs through the walls- We also did not appreciate the installation of new windows mid afternoon (nap time) on Saturday- It was very clean- well appointed- but the ceilings are low- both my husband and I caught our hands in the low ceiling fans- while taking off pull overs-On the beach a lovely spot- but limited views in many rooms- At a loer price point- especially "off season" mid May we would have been more satisfied-

Top Ten
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/23/07
The Winstead Inn Beach Resort is a treasure. My wife and I just returned from a long weekend at the Winstead Inn Beach Resort (Room 2) in Harwich Port. We could not find one flaw with the place. It is everything they boast in their marketing material and more. The lot the Inn sits on is perfect – The structure itself is very well maintained, lovingly cared-for and perfectly situated directly on the water in a quiet community. The staff – especially Joan – were exceptional. Fun loving, caring people who offered the perfect combination – a sincere concern to make sure you felt comfortable without being intrusive. In addition, the Beach Resort is within walking distance of 5 excellent eateries and a great little downtown – We enjoyed dinner at The Port, which was excellent – The Stove (go Red Sox) – and finally a grinder from Georges (best grinder since college)! If you are looking for the perfect fall getaway with your significant other – The Winstead Beach Resort is it. We have stayed in many places – B&B, Inns, Hotels and Motels – We both agreed that the Winstead ranked very high in our all time top ten. Best rooms: 2,4,5,8,10,12. We can’t wait to get back next year.

never again
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/16/07
I have stayed at The Winstead on the Beach twice. The first time was July, 2004. Everything was perfect, recommended it to many people. Staff was exceptional, made to feel vey comfortable. Made reservations to stay for July, 2005. This time, staff was intrusive and rude.Made to feel uncomfortable. We had a misunderstanding as to the number of people staying in our suite; we paid for 3 but had a 4th stay one night.(The suite has two queen beds and a pull out sofa). The owners accused us of lying, they checked our room when they thought we weren't there, and demanded the $25.00.They checked on us on the beach, checked the food we had, checked our company visiting us.(We have a large family reunion in Harwichport every year) The next two nights we had only 2 people, we didn't get a refund. it was a very uncomfortable long weekend, and it could have been wonderful. This kind of scrutiny isn't worth the place.

We will DEFINITELY visit again!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/19/06
My husband and I visited the Winstead after just reading about it on the internet. It was everything we thought it would be, and more. The service was wonderful - they attended to our every need. The room was clean, comfortable and beautifully appointed. The private beach at the Beach Resort and the pool at the Winstead Inn were wonderful. We will be back!
