Disappointed - Overpriced & Lacked Service
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/25/08
Booked 2 rooms at the last minute for a 2 day vacation. 1 room in beach house and the other almost 2 miles away in the Winstead. Booked this hotel based on a few reviews, availability and the warm and friendly gentlemen that took the reservation (never met this outstanding host on the phone - nobody at the hotel was nearly as friendly or accomodating - they were all quite miserable and seemed very uphappy with their job) The Beach house is outdated and dowdy, breakfast is very average. rooms are far from luxurious - very average, beach and sitting area outside is very nice. Never seemed to have anyone at the front desk and when they were they barely could lift there head up to greet you - at this $$$$ a night this lack of hospitality is unforgiving. The Winstead Inn has very elegant rooms in the main house , our room was average and look more like a converted store front (chandler)..To get coffee, tea or any sort of drink you had to get in your car and travel 2 miles to the beach house in the morning. It is amazing to me that they do not provide a simple coffee/tea service in the main common area. The rooms in the main house were beautiful..but, no staff in site and no simple comforts such as soda's,coffee or tea to be found. (also, bring your own pillow - pillows are hard and uncomfortable and save your towels...very skimpy with the number of towels they leave in the bathroom) Even in our 'efficiency suite' with the sink and microwave r ..no coffee or tea to even make yourself. Unbelievable at these prices..Have stayed in hotels, inns on the cape for years...we'll stick to the Chatham Inns such as Wayside, Bradford Inn, Chatham Bars, Weyquesset..all several clicks up from this disappointing and overpriced inn.
