Bed and ...

Well, we had a bed to sleep in, and the local parks were beautiful. However, we didn't get any breakfast either day we were there (no staff members could be found, and our phonecalls were unanswered). On Sunday morning, we were locked out of the "commons" area, so in addition to no breakfast, we couldn't officially check out or pick up food we had left in the refrigerator. The only time we saw a staff member was for about 5 minutes when we checked in on Friday afternoon. We left a message with the B&B on Sunday morning when we were locked out; it is now Sunday night and our call has yet to be returned.

Great Romantic Getaway!

We stayed at the Creel Cottage to celebrate our wedding anniversary and would definitely recommend it. It is one of several private cottages a little distance from the main house. We found the cottage romantic and cozy. The decorating was tasteful without being feminine. The comfy bed was in a loft upstairs - nice touch. The breakfast was delivered to your door so we didn't even have to wander into the main house. The town had a great winery where we spent time in a gazebo sipping our samples. We did not even make it to the Starved Rock Park. If you want to get away and just enjoy each other, this place really worked for us. In terms of improvements, we did find that the cabin had some corners and such that were not cleaned well (like behind a sofa) and we gave them feedback on that.
