Wedding reception at the O'Neill House
I admit the O'Neill House is a beautiful location for a formal event. We held our wedding reception there recently. However, I do warn everyone who goes there, that the management is EXTREMELY DIFFICULT to work with. You are made to feel as if you are an intruder in their home--you must play by the owner's rules and you are often made to feel as if you are being priviledged to be let into the house. It is not customer-service- oriented at all.
For example, although we ordered based on the number of people we were having for our reception, the owner did not have enough food for everyone. My wedding party did not even get to try half of the food that we ordered because she served all the other guests before the wedding party arrived from taking photos. She claimed we were taking too long that, she just couldn't wait to serve the guests, even though there were appetizers readily available.
She also did not have enough beer there for everyone and when we ran out, she made it seem like it was our fault and made no attempt to get more. When we sent a friend out to get some so we were not thoroughly embarrassed by not having enough for our guest, she then got irate that we worked without her even though she did not make any attempt to help us in the first place. She even scolded my guests at times, telling them what they could and could not do in her house.
Again, while it is a beautiful house, I do forwarn anyone thinking of hosting an event there, that the owner is very difficult to work with. You are made to feel as if you are an intruder in the house and a burden to her and her busy schedule--rather than a paying guest. She is difficult to get ahold of and she often is very hesitant to sit down and meet with you.
Good luck to all who try.
