Wow, a fantastic place to stay!
By Harry, 4/9/12
The inn was set in a lovely, quiet area; surrounded by the Kittatinny Valley State Park. Wildlife was all around. Recommendations for restaurants were very helpful. The entire inn was very clean and tidy. The only I disliked was having to leave!

Great place! Clean, quiet, romantic getaway!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/27/11
I commend Karl and Beth for the upkeep of such a beautiful B&B. Every room is clean and perfect. The area is very secluded, quiet and peaceful. We live in New Jersey but felt like we were on vacation in another state. Karl was very pleasant and was the perfect host. I would definitely recommend The Wooden Duck Inn as the "getaway place" close to home.

Quiet and restful
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 9/20/11
My teenage daughter and I stayed at the Wooden Duck Inn before an Irish dance competition the next day. We needed a quiet a restful place to calm nerves before competing. Karl and Beth were lovely, our room was quiet, clean, and pleasant, and we had a very nice time. We had no problems checking or out. When we asked for a restaurant recommendation, Karl made reservations for us and printed out directions! Breakfast was delicious, and Beth had taken into account my daughter's nut allergies (which I forgot I had even mentioned!). Next time, we'll get there earlier to have enough time to sit by the pool (which, of course, has a rubber duck!). We enjoyed talking to Karl and Beth, and the other diners at breakfast. Karl was interested in my daughter's dancing, so we emailed the Inn when we got home to let him know she had earned a first place. He was very pleased and included a picture of her with her trophies in the digital picture frame. All in all, it was like staying with a favorite aunt and uncle, and not having to worry about cooking and cleaning! We certainly plan to come back before any other competitions in the area, and my husband and I may go for a weekend away or anniversary.

Romantic Getaway
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 2/3/11
We enjoy getting away to The Wooden Duck frequently for romantic nights or weekends (four times this year). Karl and Beth are wonderful people and open their home with graciousness and sincerity. It provides privacy and solitude to enjoy one another with an elegance and homey feel. We enjoy fine dining and people in general and have discovered the Mohawk House which provides us with the romance of a quiet dinner and the bar has a happening dance, music band scene. The locals are great. On a nice summer day, you can remain anonymous at the local dive, enjoying a quiet drink on the deck overlooking the lake or by the pool. In the winter, the fireplace, while you soak in the two person tub with a glass of champagne or the many fireplaces in the library or living room. We will continue to frequent the Wooden Duck for romantic weekends. We've thoroughly enjoyed all our stays in this wonderfully clean, well maintained inn. The D's

Shocked and Appalled
I have never felt so mistreated as a customer. Though the premises were quaint and clean, the decor is overly ornate and incredibly tacky; the place has the feel of an old spinster aunt's house. The interactions with staff were extremely awkward, as well as the forced conversation with the other guests. There's a closet full of board games, which apparently comprises the sum total of on-site entertainment. There are some hiking trails around which are really quite nice, and the location itself is beautiful, but the actual B&B? I'd rather sleep in my car. Breakfast was fine, if you're a lumberjack with a malabsorption problem. We stayed in the most expensive room they had. It, too, was clean but questionably decorated, and the toilet didn't flush. There was an atmosphere of tension throughout the house, like we were relatives who had shown up unannounced - we spent much our time in our room, hiding from the horrible mistake we'd made in coming. Shortly before leaving, my wife accidentally spilled a glass of red wine on the plain white bedspread, unfortunately, and put it up to soak so the stain wouldn't set. After fleeing back home, we got a letter from the B&B which was just the most rude and disrespectful thing I'd ever read. It described the backbreaking toil required to clean this simple white bedspread, and how they had never had guests as disrespectful to the property as we apparently were. They were, in fact, "shocked and appalled" at our behavior. They also found it necessary to charge our credit card over $100 above our original bill, without discussing it with us - apparently they've never heard of bleach, or Oxy-Clean, or that new-fangled marvel known as a "washing machine." Or the idea of respecting your customer.
