Victorian on the Bay misses the boat

The distinction between a motel/hotel and a B&B is the hospitality, sophistication and attention to detail. None of these attributes can be applied to this B&B. Management would have you believe that they are meticulous in detail, but the truth is that the only attention to detail is in regard to the endless list of do's and don'ts that are conveyed to their guests upon check in.
The room that we occupied can only be described as run down, shoddy and pretty filthy. The white curtains hanging on the numerous windows were worn, tattered and appeared gray from the dust that was allowed to accumulate on them. The carpeting was discolored from age, stained and appeared unvacuumed. The bed had inferior motel type bedding, totally lacking in a luxurious feel. The bed ruffle was falling off the bed on one side and behind the bed was a large accumulation of dust also. The bathroom boasting a whirlpool tub was likewise not so clean. The tub had a ring around it, the mirror had smudges and the drawers in the vanity had the remnants of other guests hair in them.
Breakfast could only be described as meager. The breakfast at the local Hampton Inn was far more substantial and at least had a variety to choose from. The breakfast here was lacking in any choice or alternate pickings. Whatever the innkeeper choice to prepare was the only choice you had. There was no fresh fruit, yogurt, hot cereal or even a bagel or muffin to be seen. Coffee was not available until breakfast time. Also glaringly absent was the afternoon tea and cookies. Usually in a well established B&B there is a community refrigerator which is stocked for the enjoyment of the guests. This also was non-existent here.
All in all this B&B has missed the boat on even the basic amenities usually associated with what people who frequent B&B's have come to expect. The price is very impressive, but the accomodations were not.
