Highland House of Utah, Salt Lake City

Before I write this review, let me say that I'm not one for ever nit picking over small things. I never send my food back at resturants for minor things, or get mad at things I can get over quickly. However, this is not the venue I would ever recommend to anyone for a wedding. Instead of making a large block of text that is hard to read I will just list a few of the things that happened during the wedding and following reception at this venue: - The Bride was not given her own dressing room and was expected to share with all the other girls who needed to get dressed. Not to mention the one room given to the to get ready in was the same room the Bride and Groom were supposed to stay in that night (Talk about ruining the mood.) - The music was routinely turned down to a level that was unusable during the reception. When asked why, they said there were noise ordinances in place. I later checked the law online and found out that the venue was flat out lying to us about the noise level that was acceptable, and not by a little. - Employees who were working at the time, and not guests of the wedding were drinking alcohol that was brought by the bride and groom. -They made the guests clean up afterwards. The groomsman cleaned the basement (Where they got dressed. I won't even describe the drip bucket that was left down there.) And before we obviously stopped her, the BRIDE HERSELF was mopping the floor because she was yelled at by the host. -The hosts routinely went to the bride and groom to yell at them for what guests did. (IE they didn't want food in the house, the music being too loud, etc, etc.) This is obviously very unprofessional because they only have one wedding night, and any issues no matter how unfounded should go to others, not the bride and groom. From what I hear, there are plenty of other things that happened and I doubt this will be the only review written for this wedding, so I will end it here. It is a beautiful house and I'm sure it makes a lovely bed and breakfast. However, if you are planning on using this place for a wedding, please reconsider. The staff is obviously not experienced in that type of business, have too much of an emotional attachment to the venue (Basically freak out if anything if out of their control, and with over a hundred guests, it's hard to control them all.) and all and all will tell you anything you want to hear to get your money and turn around and take it all away once you paid. I truly hope they can turn around the business, however, if that is what they truly want to do, they need to learn to respect their clients and treat them professionally like a real business would.
