Alpenhof Restaurant & Guest, Reading

My family has celebrated many birthdays here over 20+ years. I was recently embarrassed at the negligent service, thoughtless food preparation and obnoxious dining room music we experienced when we dined at the Alpenhof for my father's birthday. What was planned as a special family gathering for a birthday quickly deteriorated to a marginally tolerable experience for all. The remains of the birthday cake were packaged for my father to take home. The cake was merely slipped inside a liquor box -no plastic wrap - just a cake in a liquor box. If I had to sum it up in one word, that word would be sloppy, as if the owner's simply don't care. I am deeply saddened by the loss of my favorite German restaurant. We will never return.
