Leaman's Country Lodging, Bird in Hand

The Leaman's Country Lodging is in a beautiful setting. The views are incredible and you can hear horse and buggies on the street going by. Very picturesque. The hosts are extremely knowledgeable about the area and were able to answer every question we had about dining, places to visit, shopping, etc. The guest house is very clean and pretty. Not fancy but a great bargain. We were able to store our food in the refrigerator and our room was large and comfortable. We are going back in a month and hope to be able to stay at Leaman's again. Highly recommended!!

Had a great time when we visited Lancaster County last week! John spend 2 hours with us as we relaxed in the lovely living room on our first night. He gave us so many wonderful ideas on places to see (not tourist attractions) and we followed his advise It was better that we could have dreamed. The guest house was great! So much like home. Visiting in the evenings with the other guest was an extra treat. Everything at your guest house was so comfortable we all felt very much at ease. So much better than any hotel. The only noises were the birds in the evening and the sound of horse hooves in the morning as the Amish headed for the market with their produce. Looking forward to our next trip to Leaman's County Lodging.

We have been to Lancaster several times, always eager to return. I must say that Mr Leaman, who also Pastors at a local Mennonite church, is a perfect jewel of local history and lore. He is the best ambassador the Pennsylvania Dutch country could poosibly have, possessing a cyclopedic knowledge of area restaurants, attractions and events. The home is cozy, impeccably clean and perfectly located on a 2-lane country road in the heart of Amish farm country.

The Leaman lodge is beautifully decorated, very neat and perfectly situated, off the beaten path in Lancaster County, PA. We used it as our base for exploring the beautiful Amish and Mennonite farm lands, markets and stores. We were greeted by the Leamans upon arrival and John Leaman spent an hour, or so, with us giving us a history of the area and of the Mennonite and Amish communities. He also went over an area map pointing out best places to visit including restaurants, quilt shops, markets, etc. All in all this was one of our best traveling adventures in the past few years.

What a lovely home in such a beautiful area of the country. Our first stay here, but hopefully not our last.
