Streams & Dreams, Oakland

The property at Streams & Dreams is lovely complete with pond, streams, walking paths and plenty of lush greenery. Allows for low-key time to enjoy reading, eating and spending time with friends. We BBQ'd and had a nice candlelit dinner on the deck overlooking the property. Deep Creek is not far away -- 10 minute drive or so. Bring a good book or friends and enjoy the peace.

This was an awesome experience--weather was great, scenery, FANTASTIC. Excellent attention to details in the rooms and also to the meals prepared. Gracious hosts who are extremely knowledgeable of the surrounding area, local fishing, ecology and regional history. Don is a considerably disciplined and patient fly-fishing instructor and Karen knows her bird watching and fishing as well! The location could not be much better, the weather was excellent (as mentioned before), and after 3 days, not one insect bite (happiness). I was thoroughly impressed and would definitely make the trip again to partake in the experience. I felt refreshed and ready to face the rigors of the Baltimore City rind and grind.

Streams and Dreams (as as well as Don and Karen) makes you feel like you are at a relative's house in the mountains of Western Maryland. The breakfasts are INCREDIBLE - and the presentation even more impressive. The care given to the waffles, fruit platters, coffee, and omlettes made each day start off on the right footing. The gorgeous stream across the way is perfect for hours of reading and sunbathing, endless hills to run on, and a five minute drive into the booming tourist metropolis of Deep Creek if you want your requisite ice cream/fudge. Plus, the state park with waterfalls and trails is literally a two minute walk up the road. Swimming, tubing, fishing...it's all HERE! Don/Karen know the area well, can make great recommendations, and allowed us to use their kitchen/bbq for a night in (along with endless dvds to choose from). All in all - cozy, homey, relaxing, tranquil and just the right spot for a weekend away. I highly recommend it.
