Little Inn with big charm
I've been going to Griffinn House since 1989. The current management is wonderful. Patty owns and operates the inn, with Linda, Geoff and a staff of cooks, gardners and maids. The cabins were built as a little motor inn in the 40's and definitely show their age, but that is their charm. Elk has no cell phone service, and there are no phones in the room, so the only sound is the surf. Nothing to do but relax! Three of the cabins are right on the cliffs, and look out over the Pacific, with great views of the site of the former wharf at Greenwood Cove, and the "Dinosaur Rocks". These are the best, great view, and leave a window open a bit to go to sleep and wake up with the sound of the surf. Breakfast is served every morning about 8--9, and varies day by day, with always a new surprise. Staff is available to help with massage, recreation, or dining reservations, or just eat at Bridgett Dolan's Inn, with great food and very nice atmosphere. Walks on the beach are a short stroll down the road, to Greenwood Cove, with driftwood sculptures and wildlife viewin. In short, perfect!
For an extra treat, check out the journals in each cabin to learn of others experiences.
