The Inn is Out
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/17/06
The River'd Inn seems to go in cycles every few years from great food and service to terrible service and food. Well the food is still great, but the service is lacking. I hope the food isn't the next to go. Chef Lyons is phenomenol and if he were to ever go, it would be hard to replace him. The previous review is correct in saying all of the experienced servers are gone. Wine service should be called wine disservice there. Overall, people would have a better experience at one of the other local places. If a drive isn't minded, other places on a same level I'd reccommend instead are 1763, Joshua Wilton House, even 1 Block West.

never going back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 11/16/06
This place used to be great......key words-USED TO! I dined there recently and all of the previous staff is no longer there. There are teenage girls serving the dinners and when I asked the manager, "who was in charged of the wines?" she told me she didn't know. The "manager" is some young girl who obviously has no previous restaurant experience. Our dinners used to be great. We always had great service. In 2005 when we first started dining there, we would always request to be served by a wonderful woman named Jennifer. Unfortunately, she moved away. But shortly thereafter we found two more great servers in Josh and Michael. These young men were extremely knowedgable about the wines, gave great wine service and were always charming. Now, they're gone too. Only to be replaced with immature girls. When I asked the "manager" what happened to Michael and Josh, I was told, "like, I think uhhh, they got fired or something." This is the reply from the girl who is supposed to be the most knowledgable and experienced person in the dining room and can't even speak with some intelligence. I truly did enjoy having quiet diners there but now I will be going elsewhere.

A beautiful, romantic place; friendly staff
By Matthew Carter, 04/11/05
My fiancee and I stayed at River'd Inn on 4/8/2005. Only 90 minutes from Washington, DC, it was a great weekend get-away. Nestled in the Shenandoah Mountains, right next to the Shenandoah River, the location is peaceful and serene. We had a delicious dinner when we arrived. After dinner, we strolled around outside and saw a dazzling display of stars unlike anything we're able to see where we live. We stayed in the Magnolia Room, which was very reasonably priced at under $100 and included a fireplace and a private whirlpool tub. The next morning, we were treated to a complimentary breakfast of fresh fruit, juice, pastries, sausages, eggs, and potatoes. The staff was always very friendly. The house is huge and has a nice indoor common area. The grounds are beautifully landscaped. It would make a good place for a wedding reception. The surrounding area also has plenty of exciting things to do, including horseback riding, canoeing, and hot air ballooning. We highly re

River'd Inn is worth the drive
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/07/05
Situated along the Shenandoah River, the River'd Inn offers such a picturesque drive and the location, even in Winter! It is a wonderful place for fine dining in the country, yet laid back at the same time. The Sunday buffet is very, very tasty and definitely a value meal. The service is friendly and attentive. I highly recommend it!
