We haven't even been to the Columbia House yet but I can't wait to go. However, I feel compelled to tell the world about how the Innkeeper Laura treated us this past weekend (March 16, 2007). We were scheduled to go Cape May (with 3 children) for a getaway weekend. On Friday, a big storm hit the east coast and brought lots of rain, ice and snow. I had already paid our deposit and we were trying to decide if we should go or lose our deposit - that is when I received a phone call from Laura. She told me that the weather was going to bad most of the weekend and said we could reschedule our trip to a later date and she would not keep our deposit. She was concerned that we would get there with 3 kids and have nothing to do because most things close down in bad weather. I was so surprised by Laura's generousity and level of customer service. Laura was genuinely more concerned about me and my family than she was about making money. I was amazed. We will definitely book the Columbia House in the near future. Wanted you all to know the level of service you will encounter if you choose to stay at the Columbia House. I would highly recommend it!!!!
We have been staying at the Columbia House for about 12 years and the new owners have made a good experience considerably better. The house itself is magnificent, the changes
they have made are incredible and yet still in
keeping with the atmosphere of the house. The location is perfect.
From the moment you walked in to the home you were transported back in time to the Victorian Era. The innkeepers took great pride in their home with attention to detail. The working fireplaces, the smell of burning candles on a cool winter night made the home all the more inviting. The rooms were beautifully decorated with lovely drapes and bedspreads. The place was IMMACULATE. Although trying to keep things looking authenic, there were all the comforts of modern life,ie. coffee maker, microwave, plush towels etc. We checked out a few of the other suites and each time we entered a room we felt like we were the first people to walk into the room. We were lucky enough to stay in the Turret Suite which was awesome. We have stayed in other inns but none have come close to the Columbia house in overall ambience.
I am sure that we will be returning many times to try each of the different suites.
The inn keepers should be very proud of the job they have done here. We loved it!
