They charged extra money - wouldn't recommend
By SUEK, 07/31/08
We enjoyed the area, but ... The second of two nights there was extremely hot in the room - there was no air-conditioning, so we had to open the windows and turn on the fan. Then I couldn't sleep because of the traffic noise and the heat (the Inn is right on the main street, w/ quite a bit of traffic). We dealt fine with that, and the lack of hot water the next morning, but after we came home we were charged $250 extra on our credit card. When we called they said it was for smoke removal. My husband smokes, but only outside. When he comes inside he still smells like smoke. We tried twice to get the owner to call us, but got another "manager" who said the charge would stick. He argued that the comforter smelled like smoke and told us that he figures we were smoking in the room because the windows were open. My advice is : if you smoke, then stay at a different Inn. They send a full sheet telling you about their smoke removal charge, seemingly written by a lawyer with the intentions of charging anybody who smokes. Otherwise, the St. Michaels area is nice, quaint & quiet. The sidewalks are rolled up at 10:00, with no partying to be found. We needed the rest anyways. I recommend the Crab Claw for dinner and the Maritime Museum for a few hours walking tour. The shops on main street are really cool, too.

Very Disappointed
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/16/08
My husband and I booked our reservation based on TripAdvisor reviews and website of the Old Brick Inn. We like staying at bed and breakfasts because of the great food you can get a nice room anywhere it is the food that matters to us. We sat in the dining room and watched the cook pour eggs from a carton into a frying pan. We had unseasoned scrambled eggs, a potato and sausage dish, a fruit bowl and a pastry. We were looking forward to trying some of the recipes from the website and instead we got a very mediocre tasteless breakfast. Not at all what we were promised when we made our reservations or what is said on the website. I was talking to another person in the dining room and she said she had been there before and it was not the same anymore and that she would not be back either. I talked to a housekeeper about the breakfast and she told me that the former innkeeper who did all of the cooking left and that someone else was doing the cooking now. The room was nice, the innkeeper was friendly and helped me make dinner reservations, the pool area is nice, and I liked laying out by the pool, but for the money it was not worth it, we dont mind paying good money but next time we will stay at another place. They should change the website and take off the recipes, it is false advertising.

The Lap of Luxury - Close to home
By Janet, 03/14/08
Without a doubt the Old Brick Inn is one of the best kept secrets in the DC and Baltimore area. I recently moved here from Newport News and have been working hard ever since. My fiancé and I needed a break and we found the perfect spot, St Michaels and the Old Brick Inn. It was recommended to us by friends here in Baltimore. This was our first stay at a B&B, we are more big hotel types, but we decided to give it a try , and John and Sallie have set the bar extremely high for any others we might ever visit. Everything was top notch, the room was amazing, we had Lady Guinevere, it was huge and beautifully decorated, and incredibly romantic. You had your privacy, but it was cozy and friendly at the same time. Breakfast carried us through to dinner - Sallie made the Italian Sausage hash one morning and the next we had the baked asparagus eggs, three different homemade pastries, home made granola - just awesome! Dinner at 208 Talbot was one of the best meals we have ever eaten. Town Dock was also excellent. We shopped a lot, enjoyed the Museum, went to Oxford for the afternoon, and came home ready to take on the world again. We are looking forward to a return visit when the boats are running and everything is open.

We had the best time and the inn is so elegant!!! Unbelieveable breakfasts, gorgeous rooms, and very romantic fireplaces. And the hot tub is the perfect place to unwind!!! We were there the week before Christmas and we will be there again in January.

Elegance and Charm
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 12/30/06
...live comfortably side by each at this 200 year old inn. Charming - in its' history and architectural nooks/crannies that invite warmth and rest. Elegant - in its' full southern breakfast offerings and its soothing hand pressed linens. They work together and it is a wonderful surprise

Best Bed and Breakfast - Period!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/05
I have traveled extensively in the U.S., Canada, England and the Caribbean, and whenever possible I stay in B&B’s for their coziness and personal service. I can honestly say that the Old Brick Inn exceeds any place I have ever stayed! As I was leaving, I asked Sallie for a tour of the two buildings and she graciously agreed. The rooms are each individually decorated and luxuriously furnished. The amenities are what you would expect to find only in a five star hotel, hand made soaps, mending and vanity kits, shoe mitts, excellent shampoo and conditioners. My room had a double Jacuzzi tub (The Chesapeake Suite), others had single Jacuzzi’s and regular bathtubs, but even the smallest rooms with just showers were lovely. I loved the exposed brick in some of the rooms and the flower filled patio around the pool is incredibly relaxing. Breakfasts were delicious, the scones are to die for, the herbed baked eggs were my favorite, and my husband really liked the Stuffed Berry French Toast. We have already made reservations to come back again in the Fall, and we can’t wait to get back !
