Description
A popular California coastside wedding ceremony and reception location complete with bed and breakfast lodging, this historic country inn was built at the turn-of-the-century in the tradition of the auberge of Europe or the wayside hostelry of New England. The inn features a large English style garden with gazebo, a spacious redwood deck, a charming dining area, and an old fashioned saloon. There are 12 lovely guest rooms available, nine with private baths and three which share a divided bath. A hearty continental breakfast is included with your stay.
I come down to Half Moon Bay every May to enjoy the San Benito House bed and breakfast. It’s been a tradition for me ever since I started living in California, and I look forward to it every year. The rooms are very affordable for what you get, and the surrounding scenery just makes you relish life.
The (too) few days that I spent at San Benito House in Half Moon Bay were wonderful. I went because had just broken up with my boyfriend and I needed to escape for awhile. That hotel was just what I needed to remember who I was. Everything seemed to just move so slowly while I was there. My room was so cute and quaint, and the breezy bay air was invigoratingly refreshing.
I wanted to take my wife to the San Benito House because my parents had once stayed here after they were married. I guess I wanted the same memories that they cherished so much. My wife loved the hotel, the beach and even the town. I hope someday our children will come here for their honeymoon, and make this into a real tradition.
I had been to Half Moon Bay before, but never with my fiancé. I couldn’t wait to show her the San Benito House, and I knew that once she saw it she would want the wedding there. I was absolutely right. You should have seen her eyes when I showed her where I wanted the wedding. We got married there in June, and it was magnificent.
My wife and I wanted to get out of the house for a while to celebrate our empty nest. We decided to celebrate at the same place where we celebrated our honeymoon so many years ago: San Benito House in Half Moon Bay. Everything about the hotel was exactly how we remembered it; I guess real elegance never has to change.
