Has to be a better bargain than Great Wolf!!!!

Great Wolf is what it is. it is a stand alone indoor water theme park that attempts to have you as a captive audience for your time there. things inside the resort are over pirced from $15 medium pizza hut pizzas to $5.50 beers and $3.75 danishes. i was fine with that. I understood/anticipated that type of environment. the local options overcomes that aspect. What i did not like is for $400 a night and check in not until 4:00 PM, our room was not ready until 5:15 PM. Since the water park/pool area closes at 9:00 PM, you are essentailly paying 400 bucks for 5 hours. (the rooms are Days Inn quality at best so I'll give $80-90 bucks credit for the ovenight stay.) Yes, the pool opens at 9am the next moring but check out is at 11 AM. That part of Great Wolf is a racket in which I know many visitors do not return after their initial stay. yes, you can check into the pool at 1PM before your room is ready, but that's not a relaxing resort approach. that's going to a community pool. except in this case you are paying $400. Yes, the kids loved it and want to go back next weekend. however, I am on the internet trying to find a better value than what great wolf offers.
The rides are small kid friendly. dare-devil adults or teens might be a little bored. my 6 and 8 year olds were not frightened by any rides. I would say they are Disney like in terms of kid friendly. 48-inches tall is good for every thing in the park.
The place was clean, no complaints in that area. in terms of service the young ladies at the front desk are skilled enough to know how to put the onus on the housekeeping staff for delays in getting into your room. if the pool was open to 10 or 11PM, i would have been happier.
