Lots of fun, but LOUD
By ,
We had a wonderful time there. I was VERY impressed with the level of attention of the staff, and especially the lifeguards. The waterpark was clean and fun. My only complaint is how loud it is there. The floors and walls seem to be made of cardboard. We could hear kids running up and down the halls very late at night, but they weren't even running in front of our room - they were down the hall!

Great Wolf Robbery
By ,
We paid for our whole family to stay at the lodge for our wedding. We knew it was expensive, but we had no idea that, even paying $350 a night per room, nothing was included. The restaurant was $20 a person, even for breakfast! AND my sister got sick eating there. Atleast 4 of our rooms were infested with ants. One of them was fumigated, but my mom did not want hers done because my baby niece and nephew were in it. Because she refused treatment, they refused to refund us money for that room. My sister-in-law stayed in a wolf den. Their floor was soaked and smelled like mold. The beds that the children stayed in were full of trash, old food, and crayons. They have yet to refund us for that room AND they refused to move her. We were there for 3 nights and our room was never cleaned. The water park was decent, but not worth $350 or more per night. They also had a giant dance party for kids in the main lobby until 10:30 every night. Most of my family was on that side of the hotel and were not able to get to sleep because that side of the hotel was shaking from the base. On top of that, our bar tab for the wedding was over $1200. The wedding planner ASSURED us that an open bar would've been cheaper than putting a 3 beer per person limit on it. We were expecting about $600 max! The wedding planner refused to reimburse us for any of it, although she was the one who mislead us. Overall it was not what I expected and I do not recommend it unless you like throwing away money or you allow your children to run wild at all hours of the night.

Bed Bugs Ruined Vacation
By ,
Arrived there on September 27, 2011 with toddler and spouse. Planned to stay there for vacation. However, awoke @ 1:30 am to bed bugs crawling on arm. Jump up and there were bed bugs crawling on pillow, sheets and wall next to bed. Called front desk and said we were leaving; balance of stay was refunded immediately but had to argue with guest manager to get the first night refunded. Nice water park and arcade, but not worth it with bed bugs and how the guest manager handled situation. Received bites on arms, neck and back. Very disappointing that we planned to stay there for vacation and had to leave abruptly. We found another hotel to stay for remaining of morning before returning home.

Has to be a better bargain than Great Wolf!!!!
By ,
Great Wolf is what it is. it is a stand alone indoor water theme park that attempts to have you as a captive audience for your time there. things inside the resort are over pirced from $15 medium pizza hut pizzas to $5.50 beers and $3.75 danishes. i was fine with that. I understood/anticipated that type of environment. the local options overcomes that aspect. What i did not like is for $400 a night and check in not until 4:00 PM, our room was not ready until 5:15 PM. Since the water park/pool area closes at 9:00 PM, you are essentailly paying 400 bucks for 5 hours. (the rooms are Days Inn quality at best so I'll give $80-90 bucks credit for the ovenight stay.) Yes, the pool opens at 9am the next moring but check out is at 11 AM. That part of Great Wolf is a racket in which I know many visitors do not return after their initial stay. yes, you can check into the pool at 1PM before your room is ready, but that's not a relaxing resort approach. that's going to a community pool. except in this case you are paying $400. Yes, the kids loved it and want to go back next weekend. however, I am on the internet trying to find a better value than what great wolf offers. The rides are small kid friendly. dare-devil adults or teens might be a little bored. my 6 and 8 year olds were not frightened by any rides. I would say they are Disney like in terms of kid friendly. 48-inches tall is good for every thing in the park. The place was clean, no complaints in that area. in terms of service the young ladies at the front desk are skilled enough to know how to put the onus on the housekeeping staff for delays in getting into your room. if the pool was open to 10 or 11PM, i would have been happier.

GREAT WOLF LODGE scary experience
By ,
Upon arrival we were blown away by the grounds, the anticipation was building when we walked indoors. Only to find that two girls at the desk were both handling guest complaints. Over hearing them raised slight concern but we over looked it (hoping it was just the other guest misfortune). The girl that checked us in was great her name was Tammy; she was adorable, went over everything and answered every question even printed out several things offline for us. We went to the room exhausted but the kids were still so excited they could not sleep we wandered around the lobby. We ended up playing checkers that they provide in the main lobby. We were enjoying the time it was very relaxing until a lady at the desk Paula roared out “STOP RUNNING IN THE HALLS REALLY MAN” startled we looked and yes, there were a few kids scurrying down the hall. When we noticed the all the different noises we went to the desk and asked about it. While standing at the desk getting the information about maquiquest Paula (the manager I later found out) stormed out yelling down the hall at a group of kids. Yelling on the walki talkies to catch those kids. She was loud, obnoxious, and offensive and they were not even MY children. I would have gotten after the kids its late they have work to do, but I have worked in the hospitality industry for years before owning my own business. There is a certain level of customer service and customer respect that should be given especially if those children’s parent are paying what we did for our room roughly $450 a night. I asked to speak with a manager since it was so disturbing to me. Only to be told PAULA was the Manager!!!!!! I expressed my concern to the front desk in the morning only to be told, “We know and our boss told her to stop yelling at the guest”. The room was great we had to ask hskp to please bring towels and coffee but for the most part, it was average. Then the following evening my 7 year old daughter wanted to go down to the vending machines and it was a few doors down she was petrified to go in the hall in case the “ really mean lady with red hair is out there” I will try another GWL since the indoor water park was great! The place makes good memorable moments for the entire family, with the exception of the BIG RED Haired BULLY!

Beware the Wolf
By ,
I visited Great Wolf Lodge WIlliamsburg with my family for Christmas. We were not there long when I was knocked out of one of their "family raft rides" when our raft slammed into the water and stopped suddenly. I hit the slide hard enough to break 4 ribs, my collarbone and puncture my lung. As well as get knocked unconscious and be spit out floating face down. I was hospitalized for 7 days, and had to undergo subsequent shoulder surgery, and a long bout of physical therapy. Long story short, Great Wolf would not help me with ONE DOLLAR of my medical expenses ($46,000), stating that they are not obligated and I cannot prove they were responsible. I also was out of work for nine weeks. Their final report says that there was nothing wrong with the ride. These people are unbelievable in their lack of concern about the patrons that get maimed there. They are very happy to take your money, and then, good luck. Great place to go if you are craving medical attention. You'll get plenty of it. And perhaps a life-long souvenir of your visit.

My kids love Great Wolf!!
By ,
Took our family to Great Wolf Lodge; had a blast! My children loved the indoor waterpark and activities, comfortable accommodations, on-site dining is overpriced. Other options are available in and around Williamsburg

Needs some TLC and a deep cleaning
By ,
Black mold growing on the rim of the sink and around the bathtub, filthy sticky carpet, musty odor. Room was tidy but not clean. Staff was far from concerned. Overheard other guests comment about the musty odor and lack of cleanliness. Mold also growing on stairs to waterslide. Need I say more. Only redeeming qualities- water park was fun and lifeguards are the best I've seen. Overall- will not be back and do not recommend. Did not get value equal to dollars spent.
