Not What We Booked

It was our 25th wedding anniversary and we wanted to spend it in a nice place. After checking their web site and calling to talk to them about the place, I was satisfied that it would be suitable and reserved the "garden level basement" room, (the "Floral Room"). I chose that room because it had a queen size bed, a television, and it would be cool, being located in the basement (it was August). When we showed up we had to pay right away. It was only after they took the money that we were informed that we wouldn't be able to stay in the Floral Room because it was more convenient for them to put us upstairs in the Brass Room. So we got stuck with a room with twin beds (pushed together to look like a queen bed) for our 25th anniversary, no air conditioning, no TV, and with plastic coated mattresses! What's up with that?! Were they afraid we were going to wet the bed or what?
Although the house is nice, and the proprietors seem nice enough, because of the heat and the plastic coated mattresses, I didn't sleep well at all, which made the whole experience a very negative one for me. Why couldn't they have told us ahead of time that they weren't going to be able to provide us with the room we booked so that we could have made other accomodations? What a lousy way spend your 25th wedding anniversary. Twin beds with plastic sheets?!!
