In every way, a perfect place to stay!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 06/30/09
It was our third visit to Abingdon and the best place we've ever stayed. The atmosphere was warm, welcoming and relaxed and the setting was absolutely beautiful. Best of both worlds: quiet woodsy atmosphere, and only 20 minutes from downtown with its shopping and theater treats. Rooms were clean, spacious and comfortable. Breakfasts delicious! We'll look forward to visiting this delightful home-away-from-home again and again.

A place to visit again and again......
By robin, 07/30/08
This was our 2nd stay @ The River Garden B & B, and we will continue to stay there when we are in Abingdon. If you truly want the B & B experience, this is the place for you. The scenery is beautiful and the food delicious. Paula & Scott make you feel so welcome and at home, with special little touches.

We really enjoyed our stay, will go back soon
By Bill, 07/26/08
The rooms and baths are clean, updated, attractive and more than adequate with inside sitting areas and the adjoining outdoor decks overlooking the Holston River. When combined with the Home Theater/Pool table area, and the separate TV lounge with wifi/computer, the total area is quite spacious. The clear deck panels allow a full view of the wide river while enjoying a unique breakfast. An occasional blue heron and the frequent hummingbirds add to the pleasure. The hospitality is unmatched and abundant. We had a very pleasureable visit. We plan to come back with several friends and after showing them our photos, it will be soon. We find their rates to be very reasonable. We did not find any evidence of former negative comments and question their validity and veracity.

Beautiful anniversary retreat
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 03/16/08
Beautiful setting along the banks of the river close to Abington VA. Close enough to town to enjoy Barter Theater, but country setting away from traffic. Delightful hosts, incredible service. Excellent value, especially the Barter package. Nice place to enjoy anniversary. Bonus+ for husband+...fly fishing almost right from deck!

restful river respite
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/02/07
We visited River Garden Bed & Breakfast in April 2007 & had a very pleasant experience there. It is now owned & operated by a gracious young couple that has worked tirelessly to update the place. New floors have been installed; the 3 units have themes: the Fisherman's room, the Barter Room and the Biker/trailrider room. Each is outfitted with new mattresses & new linens and the private baths have been modernized. Amenities include microwave, coffee machine & refrigerator in proximity to the rooms, which have their own entryway from the dedicated driveway off a deck which fronts the river. We drifted off to sleep listening to the river rushing by. Paula cooked gourmet breakfasts befitting vacationers with voracious appetites and encouraged us to linger and enjoy either in the dining room or on the deck off the dining room. We took advantage of the discounted tickets to the Barter Theater but declined the offer of scheduling massages to follow our trail bike ride. Paula & Scott have 2 very polite youngsters who have their own private living area so we saw little of them.

Would never go back
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 08/01/06
Beautiful location, but that was it. More like a boarding house with no place to congregate without family interference. Decor was musty, dated and downright tacky. Paper cups for the bathroom that were never replaced, tiny towels of poor grade, no idea how to properly serve food. Breakfast was at 8:30 only. Went to relax and thought the river would be nice, but the atmosphere was so poor that we just stayed away as much as possible.
