Peace & quiet with a view
My bride and I stayed at the inn for two weeknights in late Sep '05. We had a simply delightful time. We were in an upstairs room that was large, clean, nicely decorated, and above all...quiet. Don, the owner, was a very gracious host, cook, and coversationalist. The inn is a mere 100 yards off the Blue Ridge Parkway and had a commanding view of the valley. There are two cottages that we toured with another guest. They are larger than rooms in the main house and have an extra room. When we go back to VA, we will stay in the inn. Breakfast? Wow! Just like home, except for one detail. Don serves much larger servings and as a consequnce we did not need, or have, a lunch when we were out touring the southern VA countryside. Breakfast conversations with other guests was exceptional. Don organized Blue Ridge Host that helps in marketing activites in the area. He recommended we vist the Chateau Morrissestte winery, although that is why we were in VA and why we selected the Inn at Orchard Gap. My bride of 26 years read this and concurs. We strongly recommend a stay.
