Rude treatment
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 8/21/11
I went into visit this lodge while in town for a bit this spring. I am looking for a venue for my rehearsal dinner, and was told this was the place for such an event. I was utterly disappointed with the way the front desk workers treated my future mother in law and myself. She was rude, snotty and uncaring to say the least. Although this lodge is beautiful. I will not be choosing it for my rehearsal dinner for fear of an unpleasant experience.

Great escape
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/31/08
This was the third year I've been to Dancing Bear Lodge and I absolutely love the place. If you want to get away from it all, this is the place for you. I disagree that there is nothing to do in Townsend - hiking, bike trails, antiques - plenty to do for a weekend trip. And the food at Dancing Bear is wonderful - we've enjoyed everything from salmon to rib eye and we've never been disappointed. Cabins are nice and the beds are to die for. Do not miss making your own s'mores by the outdoor fireplace on a cool autumn evening. What a treat. I'm ready for next year's trip right now!

Good and bad...
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/2/08
The setting a lodge are beauitiful. Breakfast was very nice. There is not anything to do in Townsend and since it rained the 2 days we were there it put a damper on our visit. The employee we dealt with at the desk was very cool and not friendly. The walls are paper thin in the lodge!! They pipe in music in the dining room until 10 at night and it was really loud in our room. Also, they had diners set up in the gathering room outside our room and I felt I was being intrusive coming and going. And of course since it was rainy there was nowhere else to go. We paid full price for the room and frankly it was not worth it. The same people own the Inn at Blackberry Farm and I guess they think they are worth it. I dont.
