Highlight of our trip!
Sourwood is a great inn. My wife and I enjoyed it so much during our first stay there that we made staying there again priority number one when we vacationed in the Asheville region a few years later.
We also made sure to reserve our room for a few more nights than we had during our first visit, since once you settle in to the peaceful, friendly, mountaintop inn, you won't want to return to the the breakneck pace of modern life anytime soon.
Yes, it does take a little time to get too the inn, as it is located just off the Blue Ridge Parkway on top of the mountain, but that's part of the reason we enjoy Sourwood so much--it's a secluded, quiet, wooded, and wonderful.
What we liked: the owner and staff are friendly and helpful, the rooms have fireplaces for a cozy fire (it gets cool on the mountaintop at night--we were able to light a small fire even in July), the craftsman style decor and architecture is fantastic, trails to hike on the property, sipping wine on our balcony or the porch off of the great room, delicious breakfast on the patio, getting away from it all to relax!
