Sourwood Inn, Asheville

The Sourwood Inn is a beautiful 12 room bed and breakfast. The service was very good with the owner and help chatting with us frequently and assisting in picking dinner or activities each day. The location can be a problem as it took us 30-45min each way to travel into Asheville each day. We didn't want to come back and forth to B&B after activities so we had to take a change of clothes with us and skip the shower. We played tennis one day in Asheville and also riverrafted down the Pigeon River and it would have been to take a shower after each in our room instead of using 3rd party locations. The lighting was poor in the room and other locations in the B&B. There is no internet access of any kind and cell service happens to be very poor there(not their fault). There is no A/C in the B&B so if you are going during a time of heat in NC I would avoid this place. They market to business to bring conferences/meetings there but I don't see how any business would do that with such poor businessman's needs(phone/internet). It's relaxing, quiet, and out of the way. You are basically cutoff from everything except getting newspaper and there is 1 TV with 5 or 6 channels on it. I would look for something in Downtown Asheville if you were there to enjoy the ciy and skip the B&B and look for other options.
