The Melrose Inn is under new ownership!

The Melrose Inn was bought in November of 2009 and is now owned by Marilyn Doheny, an internationally renowned contemporary quilt artist, gourmet chef, and hostess extraordinaire. The inn has been completely redone and the reviews on TripAdvisor will show you the difference! The Friends of the Chef Private Dining Club will customize a menu to your desires with 12-24 hours notice, with seating for 1-60 people. Coffee is provided at your door one hour before breakfast, and the service is outstanding! Please call 828-859-0234.

I think the staff could spend more time cleaning up after a big event - you still have other guests. Housekeeping is something to be desired - remember to look up, fix shorts in the lights in the rooms, keep dogs away from eating area (not nice) , use Clorox on the shower curtains - mold isn't pleasant to look at. Mattress pads should be on bed, why were they removed in the first place? Don't hover over your guests when they are eating and telling them why you do what you do with the food. Set it out and be done with it. Don't tell us why it's more economical the way you do it.
