Connect with your inner self and nature.
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/24/09
This was the most amazing and romantic place we have ever been. In the evening, look out for the wonderful millions of bright stars in the sky. Its so clear that you can even see the milky way. Also listen to the noise of the crickets calling for their friends to come out and play. Dim the lights or turn it off and make your own fire from the fireplace, this will make the place romantic. Lay down on the most comfortable bed ever made, close your eyes and let your senses play. Watch out for the turkeys in the morning looking for foods. Best of all enjoy this wonderful place, feel the energy and chi from Chuck and Nan who are inspirational and touching people.. XX

One of the most romantic place on earth
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/22/09
We had the most amazing time in Starwberry Hills even if it was just for 1 night. We can not wait to go back to this charming place again to experience the unbelivable amount of stars, vast sky, beautiful open scenery, trees, mountains, sweet smell in the air.. and the most of all, it was the wonderful people, Chuck and Nan who welcomed us with such warm hearts. They were so inspirational and admirable. We could not have hoped for a better break to connect with nature and meet such wonderful people. this place is a must.

Love it, love it, love it!

We stayed at the newly built Artist's Loft... wow, beautiful!! We never saw it before the fires, but what they built it to be now is absolutly gorgeous. Very charming and spacious, but with enough care in decorating to give it a real cozy feeling. Kitchen was fully furnished with anything and everything you need and appliances, dishes, etc. were in perfect condition. Unbelievable views from practically every room, relaxing tubs with jets and bubbles, cozy and romantic wood burning stove, enclosed outdoor patio, and the most cozy and comfortable beds. Obviously we enjoyed ourselves. Also, the owners themselves are delightful people... there should be more people around like them! Thanks for the great time... we'll be back!

Peaceful, beautiful getaway.

ArtistsÕ Loft Bed and Breakfast is actually three separate cabins near Julian California. The newest and largest, the ArtistsÕ Loft, is about 1800 square feet with a beamed cathedral ceiling in the living area. The views from all are long and the area quiet. The the ArtistsÕ Loft cabin, has two bedrooms and all facilities for extended stays, but it is also wonderful for a weekend, like the one I spent there a few days ago. The Cabin at Strawberry Hill and Big Cat Cabin are, like the ArtistsÕ Loft, beautifully appointed in country elegance with the artistic sensitivity of the owners; both artists. I have stayed in all the cabins over the last few years. If youÕre wanting to relax your mind and stretch your imagination in the hills and the trees, this is the place.

Secluded mountain getaway perfection!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 01/17/06
The Cabin at Strawberry Hill is one of several unique cabins run as part of the "Artist's Loft" Bed & Breakfast. My wife and I have been visiting Julian for years, and after nearly a dozen visits to Julian B&Bs, we finally stayed at the Cabin at Strawberry Hill. So far, this is our favorite! The cabin itself is a masterstroke of modern rustic construction. The single large and comfortable room looks more like a design study than a "cabin in the woods". The massive king bed is extremely comfortable and the simple kitchen with vintage range/oven and wood counters is as beautiful as it is fun to cook in. Fresh organic eggs and bread were provided and we enthusiastly prepared our own breakfast on our second day, after opting for Sunday Brunch at the nearby Pine Hills Lodge the day prior. We preferred our results to the brunch! The gas heater would have been more than adequate, but we opted instead to turn it down and build a fire in the cast iron fireplace. Dimming the lights and settling on the couch or bed bathed in firelight is romance at its finest! The clawfoot tub and antique swiss bathroom fixtures complete the equation for a perfect setting for a couple's getaway. The views from the front porch (or through the glass doors when the shades are drawn) are simply breathtaking. We managed to spy a pair of deer working their way past the cabin; a very common sight, apparently. The cabin is close enough (10 minute drive) to Julian to enjoy the restaurants and shopping, but far enough away that staying here is a different sort of experience than staying at one of the "Hotel-style" B&B's in town. The term "quiet" takes on new meaning as the occasional Woodpecker or Blue Jay are the primary noisemakers in the area. When we stayed, the new "Artist's Loft" was nearing completion (rebuilt bigger and better after being lost along with the proprietor's main home during the Firestorm of 2003). Two nights was not enough, to be sure. Our self-organized "tour" of Julian B&Bs may be over, I think we've found our favorite place to visit again and again.
