The Truth About Barrow House Inn & the Previous Reviewer...
I'm a frequent guest of Barrow House Inn and last week I noticed the 2 hateful reviews posted by an individual back in April. Being curious as to who this joker (Yahoo? ;) ) was, I 'got the goods' on him from the innkeepers. Did this guy ever have an axe to grind!
The Goods: Like many residents of rural America, he'd never been to a bed & breakfast before (**huge** red flag right there) and obviously knew nothing about them. He called 3 days before a *very* busy weekend to book something for him and his... ahem... 'girlfriend' (whatever!) Another red flag.
He only ate 1 full breakfast and didn't like it because he'd never consumed hollandaise sauce or a poached egg before (!!!) Yeah, we're talking a real Emeril or Bourdain here.
Sidenote: their breakfasts are served with sterling silver and fine china... do you *really* think a place that does that for guests would be, quote, " The food is nothing to rave about, and even the dishes looked dirty." ??? Get real.
Basically, he was upset for not getting the best possible accommodation and needed to blame anyone but himself.
He only paid $85/night. Would he have paid $160/night for a suite even if it were available? Not likely.
I myself worked in a hotel for years and let me tell you something. Unhappy customers often have *internal* problems that they externalize. For example: The couple has a fight and want to leave without paying. So they try to weasel their way out by using the old "Bugs or Dirty Excuse" with the hotel desk clerk or manager. Geez, if I had a dollar for every time I heard that one! Same principle applies here. He merely lied about the B&B being dirty because of an internal problem(s).
What really gets me is that the innkeepers took the time and their own money to return the guy's cell phone charger and he still wrote a mostly hateful review over a year later ??? Can we say "ungrateful", boys and girls???
