7 reviews for Hibiscus Suites, Sarasota
Peaceful,clean and enjoyable!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 07/18/09
No this is not walking distance to the beach (2 miles) but it is clean and recently renovated as ind. condos. My daughter (38) and I wanted a week away to relax, read and get some sun. Hibiscus is close enough to everything but off the wild frenzy of the beach. We enjoyed a clean, comfortable suite which incl. continental breakfast a beautiful pool and friendly staff. I felt I needed to review this now as the last review dates to 2007. We enjoyed a 5 star visit with 2 star cost and would recommend it highly to anyone looking for a nice vacation off the beaten path. Nice restaurants, shopping malls and Siesta Beach all within 2-5 miles.

What a dump!!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/07/07
I felt that I had to write a review to save other families from this dumpy hotel! It received wonderful reviews on Expedia (almost all 5 out of 5) so we took a leap of faith and booked it. This place is really bad! It stank to high heaven like Pine-Sol...like someone spilled a bottle on the gross carpet. It literally kept me up all night. There were bugs in the bathroom and crunchy plastic covers on the mattresses. The "continental breakfast" is a joke...a couple of muffins and oatmeal packets. By far, this was the worst hotel I have ever stayed in (and I am truly not picky). Save your money...I can't imagine where the wonderful reviews came from!

Mediocre at best
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 05/24/07
My husband and I stayed in November '06 and was in Sarasota for a wedding. We entered the office to check in and the manager/desk clerk seemed as if we were bothering him and interupting his conversation. Checked in and had a room on the ground floor with a view of the stairs. We did get a good deal on the price per night on the internet so I wasn't expecting too much. The livingroom was nice and the kitchen was a huge bonus as we were staying 10 days. The bedroom was dark and the carpeting was FILTHY and damp. The bathroom was nice and clean. We were very busy with family obligations for the 10 days we didn't spend our time there. I didn't press the issue of the dirty carpet because I had already read the reviews about the nasty management and I was too busy to bother. Had this been a vacation I would have not stayed here or would have been more demanding. I didn't see any bugs as another reviewer had stated but the carpet in the bedroom did freak me out and I would wear flip flops while walking around. The motel was very quiet and the rest of the staff seem nice. The major thing for us is it was convenient to our family functions. So if your not staying here for vacation or your not too picky and can put up with the rude check-in then stay here. If your looking for more then go elsewhere. I wouldn't stay here again to be sure.

Rooms Filthy Carpet Filthy
By Dan, 03/18/07
Adam the Manager was rude & told me to go elsewhere if I didn't like it, when I complained about the filthy room. He even gave me the name of another Motel...... I will NEVER stay there again! Ruined my familys and my vacation.

Kitchenette is the big plus
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 02/05/07
This is a modest motel (no beautiful decor or landscaping) located near the Tamiami Trail, south of central Sarasota, within easy-driving of many places for shopping, eating, etc. I was there alone for about a week. It was off-season, so few visitors were there and the one-bedroom suite went for the same price as a decent motel room. It was on the ground floor; the bedroom was smallish and dark, filled mostly with the king-sized bed. The other room was compact, too, filled with furniture (comfortable modern), and a kitchenette, which was cleaned daily. Cable t.v. in both rooms. I didn't swim in the pool. It looked clean, but it was near the street. I didn't bother with the continental breakfast (only juice, coffee, roll), which has to be picked up in the small office and taken back to the room because there's nowhere else to eat it. Service was personal: When the newspaper didn't make it one morning, a replacement came immediately. When I didn't arrive when expected the hotel mgr. phoned my home to ask if everything was all right. That's something I wouldn't expect from the usual motel.

Great rooms, lots of space, very nicely decorated
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 09/23/05
We stayed in a one bedroom suite with 2 beds and lots of room for my family of 4. They did a great decorating job to make the place feel like home, especially with the kitchen. It had all the stuff we needed like refrigerator, stove, microwave, etc., and dishes, cookware and such. We saved a ton of money on restaurant bills while we were there. We mostly wanted to spend time at the beach, but wanted to do other things too, so their being 4 blocks from Crescent Beach was ok. There are lot's of things to do around it, plus their pool area is real nice. It's a family owned place, so the folks that ran the hotel were very nice and helped us with anything we wanted. It was nice to get good local information. I was really surprised at little things, like the quality of the beds. Not many hotels pay much attention to something like that that people don't actually see. It was how the whole place seemed to work - attention to little details that made it so nice. I'll definitely be back next year.
