It was our second time in Key West with my boyfriend and we absolutely couldn't wait to come back to Casablanca! The room is soooo romantic, lots of light, and clean! Also safe, secure and quiet!! By the way, they let us have the same room as last time and even gave discount because we were returning customers. The stuff was super friendly, Ivy is the best!!! She is so smiley and helpful, she even booked for us parasailing and jet ski activities. The next day we were about 1-2 hours late with check out (rooms are sooo romantic... ;)), but it was fine by them, they just smiled and wished us a good trip back home! Absolutely the best place in Key West and very reasonable price for Duval street!!
PS if you are arriving late (after 8pm) call ahead and let them know, reception closes early but they will leave you the key. They are sooo sweet!!
I made a reservation thru AA Accomodations Ctr. to stay at Casablanca Hotel during New Year's Eve Holiday. My reservation through AA was for a 2 night stay arriving on New Year's Eve for a room for 3 adults. When we arrived @ Casablanca, the desk clerk requested my AmEx and proceeded to charge my card for a 3 night stay while I was filling out some forms. When the charge slip was given to me for my signature, I questionsed the overcharge. I was told at that time (3 pm on New Year's Eve), that the hotel had a 3 night minimum policy during that holiday. Although I argued about it, I was not given a choice. What was I supposed to do? Drive back to Miami (3 hour drive), and lose a 1 night deposit? After the holiday was over, I contacted the reservation agent and AA Accomodations provided me with a copy of the reservation confirmation stating it was a 2 night stay. In my opinion, the staff of Casablanca is unethical. I know I was taken advantage when the hotel staff was fully aware that I had no choices available to me. I stayed in room 2 and I must say the room was clean. The beds were not so nice but still acceptable. However, the continental breakfast that was promised, never materialized. They gave us coffee and only upon request. The adjacent pub, was being manned by 1 person on New Year's Eve. We had to wait forever for service. Of course, I will never go back to Casablanca and I don't recommend it. It is very clear to see that the business is in trouble. Maybe the business could be turned around if the owners reviewed their business procedures and build strong customer service rather than resor to deceptive and dishonest measures.
I have been traveling to Key West each of the last four years with a soccer team from Miami to play in a match against the local Key West team. Each year the Casablanca is our headquarters. The first couple of years the place looked a little "run down". The staff has always treated us well. This year it was obvious that there have been some renovations/improvements. I was in room 4 by the pool. This room was very clean and the bathroom was large. Only about 5 steps from the pool. We love the place. I am planning a trip back in about 6 weeks and I will stay at the Casablanca if there is a vacancy. The value is outstanding considering the location.
yes, it is not a five star hotel and I've never got my free continental breakfast which should have been served, but off season it is $88 tax included and during the season it's smth like $120 all included ON THE DUVAL STREET!!! It was always, always, always clean. Best deal around! Going for by bday next week.
I have been staying at Casablanca for the last 2 years for Fantasy Fest. The first year we were not so sure about the hotel but it was the greatest location and the staff was friendly. The pub next door was a great place for drinks and to just watch the people on the streets. Last year we went back and the little lady that ran the place (Linda) was fantastic. She took complete care of us and we have decided this is the place we will stay at each year. The location was great! The rooms were clean and comfortable and we have already booked again for this year 08. If you are ok without the frills this is a place for you. But if you are high maintenance this isnt a place for you...
My husband and I had never been to Key West
before and came down from Orlando om a whim.
We were having lunch in Bogarts Irish Pub (we are from England) and enquired about room rates in the adjoining hotel. We decided to stay as we were having a great time with all the "locals" in Bogarts and the pub food was brillant.
The lady on the desk a young girl named Lisa showed us two rooms and we choose room 3. The room was very clean, with a beautiful balcony right beside the pool (we were served a very refreshing breadkfast on our balcony the next morning) and our bathroom was to die for. We found the staff very informative, friendly and extremely helpful.
We will definetly recommend this to our friends and we come back again.

Any positive review of this place is bizarre. I know Key West very well, and for a long time. This place was pretty when first opened - 1986/87, as it had been empty and forlorn before the re-do.
We recently made a spontaneous trip down and stayed a night. Our room was filthy. The general inn environment and service were scary.
We can't fathom any 'positive' reviews due to our experience there. The people running it appeared to possess no charm whatsoever except when attempting to separate us from our money.
KW is a fun place and we enjoy its crazy vibe, but this is place has nothing to do with any of the positives about the town. They are pure opportunists...don't ruin your vacation and stay anywhere else to avoid having an experience such as ours.
About five years ago my husband and I went to the Keys on a whim for my birthday. We did not have any reservations. We walked up and down Duval and the Casablanca was the most reasonable priced hotel. We were not expecting much, but were plesantly surprised. We loved it! It was very close to everything, very clean, quiet and the staff was great. We have planned a trip down to Ft. Lauderdale for a wedding this June and hope to squeeze in a night in the keys and plan to stay at the Casablanca! Can't wait!!!
I have just returned from my vacation in Key West and stayed at the Casablanca Hotel. It was one of the best places I have ever stayed.
My husband was quite sick throughout the vacation and the staff could not have been nicer to us.
Our room was large, airy and very clean. Every morning (we stayed for 4 nights) we were served a beautiful breakfast. Fresh coffee was available all day at no extra charge.
We will definetly return and very soon.

I have been staying at Casablanca off and on for maybe 20 years and must say that I enjoy the place. Cleanliness has never been an issue. It's right in the middle of the Duval tourist area and a quick walk to "downtown" Duval. The value is excellent, particularly for Key West, which tends to be pretty pricey. The bar next door is very convenient. I have seen some changes over the years (once upon a time the rooms didn't have televisions and I love to watch the Keys Channel) but all in all I also have to wonder if the two bad reviews weren't hatchet jobs.
