Equator, Key West

I can't imagine anything to dislike about the Equator. Our second visit was as great as our first. Many friends from last year and many new ones. The staff was very friendly like last year. We travel with a little pug dog and they were friendly with him too. The room was very nice and the cleaning guys were great about working around our mixed schedules. And they did a great job. The rooms were very clean both times and well appointed. The outside area as well. Staff was always very accomodating to other needs. The location is also a very easy walk to Duval and other attractions. A good thing. Laundrymat very close for extended stay. This will be our destination to KW unless anything changes as these guys are great!

Much love for the Equator!! Stayed for 9 nights beginning June 26, 2009. The entire staff is wonderful, helpful and "real!" Great complimentary breakfast and happy hour; the place is immaculately cleaned; had to drag myself out to see the sites of Key West. Easy stroll to Duval Street and the harbour for the BluQ experience. Loved the clothing-optional areas; can get more than enough sun. Lots of nearby restaurants (even for vegans), grocery store and convenience store; the in-room refrigerators are great for keeping between meal snacks and drinks; ironing boards and irons help to bump the suitcase wrinkles out. The clientele are mostly laid-back and mature. I'm getting ready to make reservations for Key West Pridefest 2010; trying get Willy and Jeff (met them there) to join me. Love iiiiiiiit!!! Rufus

My partner Eric and I spent a few days there in July. The daily room service was nice as you do not always get that. Happy hour was always a great time and breakfast was always something to look forward to. The staff was friendly and rooms clean. The landscape needed " a bit" of professional trimming, but of course it is the Keys and it was very tropical. We can't wait to go back to Key West and of course we will stay there. It was a nice atmosphere and we ended up with some great friends out of our visit. You can walk to just about anywhere you want to go, and it is only a few blocks from Duval. There are several good places to eat in the area. The pool and hot tub were nice and you had a plentiful amount of big towels to use. This is a definate place to stay

My partner and I have been coming to Key West for 10 years. Two years ago we discoverd the Equator Resort. The E.R. is the ONLY place we will stay from here on out. The rooms are very clean and updated. The breakfast is wonderful along with the happy hour each and every night, which both are included with your stay at no extra charge. The clothing optional pool and sun deck area is WONDERFUL. It only takes 5 minutes walking to get to the heart of the gay district on Duval Street. However, what really makes the stay the best is the STAFF. From the second you get there to the minute you leave, you will feel at home.

My buddy and I just returned from our annual pilgrimage to the Equator Resort. This year we met friends there who we befriended at the Equator in years past and had a great time. In addition to being a beautiful resort, the location is ideal and Carrie, the soon-to-retire staff member, is always a hoot to see and he puts on a great pool-side (free) happy hour each evening between 5-7. This was our 5th year staying at the Equator and we already look forward to next years winter getaway! Thanks to all the staff at the Equator for making our stay great.

I have stayed at the Equator 3 times now, 1999, 2001 an July 4 2007. I read the reviews just before I went this last time. They made the place sound awful. I was pleasantly surprised. It was just as clean and charming, if not more, than the last time I went in 2001. I think the service may be a tad off or not quite as good as before. I notice that several reviews had complained about the tip requests (10% suggested). I suppose that may be a bit tacky, as a suggestion that the guest should tip according to his perception of service received would be more appropriate. But some guests may forget to do so if not reminded. I will stay here again next time.

I love this place. Have stayed over 1/2 dozen times over the past 5 years and plan on heading back next week! The property is beautiful, rooms are great and well maintained. Staff is very friendly. New ownership since the last time I stayed so that will be interesting, loved Bob and Steve the past owners. Highly recommend this guesthouse, convenient to everything in Key West (easy walking distance to Duval). The Man
