Pretty good vacation, would recommend to couples
By ,
The Good: We had a pretty good time here, even when the weather wasn't the best. The service was very good, all of the staff was very helpful, hardworking, grateful and respectful. This is the best attribute of the hotel. We had a nice relaxed feeling here, nothing rushed, nothing blaring, just relaxing. The hotel rooms were very nice, clean, fully stocked and replenished fridge with water, juice, soda and beer. good selection of TV channels. Room service was a nice bonus at any hour and included in the price. Beach was nice and so was the pool. This was a great place to lounge. Laying out by either one and get lots of drinks, swim, read or strike up a conversation with other vacationers was great. It was fun to converse with the other couples. Good mix of age groups (25-70) and it was nice to have no one under the age of 18. Lots of activities to choose from during the day. Fantastic breakfast buffet, anything you want, it is there. Good choice of restaurants and great service and presentation. We got a great couples massage. The spa was the best we have been to yet. We walked a mile north and south on the beach to compare the front to the others, and this resort was the best. The Concerns: No free shuttle from the resort to Playa Del Carmen. You have to take a cab or pay for an excursion to get anywhere if you don't have a car. The room we received had two double beds. We were hoping for a king bed, as we are married. I would think they would have more king beds as this is an adult resort that has a lot of couples. We paid for a "deluxe" room, but got the double bed room at the end of the hall, no ocean view. I really don't like not getting something that is advertised and paid for. After 4 days they said they could move us to a different upgraded room, but we didn't want to pack up all of the stuff. We really didn't spend too much time in the room and being at the end of the hall worked out a little better as it was quiet, so we passed on it. we didn't spend too much time in there anyway. The restaurants had great presentation, but the taste and variety was just a little off. It appears that they have tried hard, but they need to have a professional chef come in an revamp the flavor and menu. Perhaps put in a menu with more authentic Mexican entrees? The Italian restaurant called Portafino was not a good Italian restaurant like you are used to. The others were the same. They weren't bad meals, and I did have some great ones. Both steaks I had were not cooked to order and it seemed that the meat could have been cooked a touch longer. Food was sometimes warm, not hot. Had to wait to get in restaurants, but it was nice to go sit at the lounge and get a glass of wine or a cocktail before dinner. The nightlife was ok, and depended a lot on who was there. It had a nice bar with big screen tvs to watch the Olympics, shoot some pool or hit some karaoke. Needed something else at night. It was fairly slow, even if they had music or karaoke. Definitely need to keep the pool, hot tub and pool bar and beach bar open at night. No one wants to turn in at dusk every night. Overall: Very impressed, hard to be nit picky. We would recommend this resort as a very good all inclusive resort. We have stayed in Cancun and on Isla Mujeras, and I would pick this as the best hotel so far. Great for couples and relaxing.

Excellence
By ,
Spent sixteen of the best days ever in this fantastic hotel. THe food is fantastic, the rooms are clean, the beer is free and the staff all make a really big effort. Having stayed in AI hotels in many different resorts I had a rough idea of what to expect but this hotel surpassed all of them. I did hear a few people gripe about the food etc, but then again my wife and I were of the opinion that they really were only interested in hearing the sound of their own voice. I never write such reports but this place is a cut above in terms of food, service amenities and staff. It is small and every one gets along and if that is what you are looking for here is the place to go

Perfect for Honeymoon
By ,
My husband and I spent our honeymoon at Secrets Capri on August 2008. We almost gave up going because the hurricane hit Cancun the day before our arrival. When we arrived at Secrets, the hotel was intact and we got upgraded. Room was clean, beautiful and cozy. It took us less than 1 hour from Cancun airport to Secrets Capri. The ocean was not so clean given the fact the hurricane has just passed. This would be the only down side of our visit. We spent most of our time by the pool or hanging out by the beach. The hotel was fairly empty (most of the guests fled the hurricane). We learned from a couple who stayed there during the passage of the hurricane that the hotel treated them very well. All guests were placed at the staff-house during the hurricane passage, and the staff was helpful and entertaining. Service was great, and the all-inclusive option is fantastic. The restaurants were really good. We are not very picky with food and high cuisine restaurants. I would say the food was always very tasty, well seasoned and well cooked. The buffet option for lunch was my favorite. Room service is 24-hours and you should enjoy it. We order ice-cream and food in our bedroom at 4 am. We also did a massage at the SPA which was really good. We brought many $1 bills for tips. No kids running around is perfect. We truly enjoyed our time there. It is best for couples who want a quiet set-up. There are some night activities though at the hotel, not many, but some.

Excellent Experience
By ,
This was one of the best vacations ever. Staff very attentive, food excellent, Rooms very comfortable. This location is inbetween Cancun and Playa De Carmen which makes it close to everything you could want to do in Mexico. I would recommend this Hotel to any couples who enjoy the finer things in life.

We will return
By ,
My husband and I went for our 2nd anniversary and it was our first time at an all inclusive. My fear was because we were 50+ that we would feel out of place with younger couples. Boy, were we wrong. I would have to say that there was a nice mix with couples our age and those younger. We met some lovely couples and enjoyed the trip immensely. The weather in early October is outstanding. The room was exquisite and the service even better. The restaurants were like 5 star and I couldn't have had a better meal in many NYC restaurants. The staff was absolutely wonderful. If you want a completely relaxing vacation, this is for you. We took a taxi into to Playa Del Carmen for shopping a couple of times and even took the ferry into Cozumel. The only bad part of the trip is that I got bit by a horse on an excursion and was compelled to actually relax, which is what we really needed. I think the evening entertainment is a little lacking but just enough for us. We loved the piano lounge, movies on the beach and the casino night. We had a ball and plan on going back again. I absolutely loved it.

They will rip you off
By ,
When I checked in, they asked me to sign a credit card receipt for charges to my room while I stay. When I checked out, they told me they destroyed the receipt, but they didn't. I feel stupid for falling for that old scam, but I expected more from a resort that was supposed to be nice

Mexican paradise
By ,
This resort was more expensive than others I have stayed, but every extra dollar I paid was worth it. The first different thing about this resort is that people under 18 years old are not admited and the hotel is smaller than the mega-resorts that populate the Caribean. It had 300 rooms at most. So being smaller results in never having a crowded beach or poolside, no ill-reservations 3 days in advance for restaurants, etc. The resort is conveniently located in Riviera Maya, 10 minutes away from Playa del Carmen town (the hotel has free shuttles every day), 40 minutes drive from Cancun and there are several trips you can make (we went to Tulum ruins and Chichen Itza). Staff is extremely friendly and attentive, good mix of daily activities and night shows (I specially liked an unplugged concert set at the beach). The restaurants excel. We sampled every one and they were all great. There is even room service 24 hours straight. Perhaps the only con was the sea, that wasn't as crystal clear as I expected it to be, but other than that, everything was more than great.
