Not so good
This was our family's third stay at this hotel in the past three years, and after two satisfactory stays in the past, this time was disappointing. First, when we checked in, the family ahead of us got a rate $10 better than what I had reserved on-line, and the desk clerk was unwilling to give me the same rate. Second, after being assigned rooms on the third floor, we discovered that the third floor of this building is half smoking rooms and half non-smoking rooms. The smoke smell was very strong in the hallways and also wafted into our room in the morning, I noticed. Third, the door into the building by the parking lot was broken and did not consistently open. When my wife reported this to the problem to the desk clerk (same one unwilling to give me the "walk-in" rate), he was rude and dismissive to her. He said the door has been broken since winter due to cold weather.
The only good things about this hotel were that it 1) was sufficiently clean, 2) is pet-friendly so we can take our dog, and 3) has a good breakfast in the morning. On this trip, the breakfast server was very pleasant and did a great job. That may or may not be enough for my family to stay here again next time we make our drive south for spring break...there are obviously some service and management issues that need to be addressed.
