South Carolina Governor Edward Rutledge was the youngest signer of the Declaration of Independence. He lived with his wife at this house on Broad Street, which has since become a National Landmark. Built around 1760, the building houses the quintessential bed and breakfast in Charleston. Innkeepers Karen Spell Shaw and Robert Hill Shaw are continuing three generations of lodging excellence. The Governor's House Inn is located in Charleston's historic downtown just a short stroll away from many of the city's attractions.

I felt like a Queen at the Governor's House Inn
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/24/06
I picked the Governor's House Inn because of the raves I read. The Inn was better than I expected. The entire house is spectacular, the inn keeper was wonderful in every way. I felt totally relaxed and pampered the whole time I was enjoying this great house. The people I met were just as impressed as I was with our accomodations. After staying here, I can't imagine staying at another hotel again!

Epitome of antebellum charm!
By A Yahoo! Contributor, 10/13/06
A beautiful home with exquisite furnishings and very helpful staff. It is also in the historic district which makes it very easy to see Charleston on foot. My husband and I peaked into some of the other B and B and we are so glad we picked the Governor's House Inn.
