Avalon Lodge, South Lake Tahoe

the management was outstanding and the service was exellent and the rooms were very unique and well kept

on 08/22/08 my husband and i stayed at this lodge for our anniversary, we firs got there and we were very dissatisfied with the place cleaness and wanted t leave and wanted our money refunded, they said they dont have a refund policy and if we left they would charge us the whole stay. Even when i told them that the room was bothering my allergies they told me to get a doctors note and she said i was saying that because i didnt like the place. the receptionist told my husband that she would refund our money if it wasnt for her manager being there. they were very rude and had no regards for the customes at all. then i found out today that they charged me on my credit card for 2 bath robes that they claim it was in the room when we checked in, but there was no robes in the room, they said i took it and i didnt I feel like im being treated like a thief and cant do nothing about it, the charge for the robes was $80.00, the manager had told us that they had problem with employees stealing things there before and that they had changed the people, so who can prove to me that those robes werent missing before!!!!. the place needs to be inspected by the Health department its filthy, my allergies were really bad there and they didnt even care. Please do not stay at this place its discusting, the people have horrible customer service they ruined my annyversary and didnt even care.. the lady (Brandi) also hung up on me when i was telling her i didnt take those and tried to talk to her about it, that David guy is also very rude. Thank you.

When we visited the Avalon Lodge the bathroom was in terrible shape. The toilet seat was broken, the toilet continued to run after you flushed the toilet, and there was no hot water. When we spoke to the office staff they said that they would not charge us for the second night of the stay. However, in the morning when we went in to check out, the manager said that they had never offered to cover the second night due to inconvenience and then he started screaming at my husband. After being in the customer service business for over 10 years, I am disappointed to say that I have never witnessed such unprofessional and rude behavior. I would advise you NOT to stay at this hotel because you will surely ruin your vacation. The hotel is not customer-service oriented and we were very upset because of the treatment that we received.

We stayed for 2 nights at Avalon. The staff was very helpful. The pool is heated and was very nice and clean. We really enjoy our stay at Avalon we will be back.

We stayed in a spa room that was so charming. It was warm during our stay but they had 2 fans if we needed them.The staff were very friendly and made our trip even nicer. We spent a lot of time just enjoying the sights of Tahoe. I can't wait to go back!!!!!

The Avalon definitely was a big disappointment. We stayed there 5 days in September and never once saw the owners who give the impression that they left the corporate world to live their dream of owning a lodge The place was very run down and in need of major repairs. When we checked in, a group of people were returning keys that didn't fit their doors. The refrigerator in Room 20 desperately needs to be thawed out We didn't use it because the ice in the freezer was 2" thick. The shelf in the bathroom was coming off the wall. The rug in the bedroom was filthy and the furniture was junk. We paid over $100 a nite to stay in this dump in the off-season and we could have had a cleaner room just around the corner for $45. Certainly can't recommend this place

The place has no A/C which for my summer visit was not good. I expressed my dissatisfaction with the room and I was told I would be charged for two days if I left. The pictures on the website are very deceiving. The pool is tiny and very dirty. I would like to express my stongest reservations to anyone considering staying at this place.
