Located on the Northern coast, this resort has a 18 hole golf course, as well as a pro tennis shop and complex, for tennis lovers. This hotel is an excellent choice for group trips. The feature restaurants are worth visiting, especially the Italian and Brazilian. If you are looking for a place to relax in the beautiful Caribbean, you will find it here. Guests are free to participate in the nightly talent shows. Also, football (soccer) and volleyball games are part of the daily activities.
Two of my friends and I stayed at this hotel over the past few days. Nothing is as advertised. The place is filthy; the staff is not helpful and has an excuse for why everything is not in functioning order. We arrived on a Saturday and the resort had been opened up to the local community for a holiday celebration. We endured two days of loud noise and chaos--so much for a quiet start to what was supposed to be a relaxing vacation. Nothing in our room was as advertised. We were charged $40 for utilities (since when do you get charged for utilities at a hotel!). The beds, if you can call them that, were mattresses on top of a board and a futon in the common area that might as well have been a deck chair at the pool. The rooms were dirty and the decor looked like it had not been updated in 30 years. One of our toilets was not functioning properly and the last two days we were there we had no hot water. The dining rooms (all of them were supposed to be open) and we found out that only one would be open on each day and they would tell us that morning which one it would be. The hygiene standards in the dining room were also questionable. The three swimming pools were all dirty, one remained a consistent color of green the entire time we were there. The fitness room doesn't exist, unless of course you call a broken stepper and a shelf with some free weights a fitness room. We were constantly hounded by individuals who were trying to sell us timeshares. I could continue on with the list of things wrong with this place, but they are endless. Suffice it to say, I would never go back and frankly this place needs to be shut down.
We bought 50 odd weeks here, being really impressed with the complex. Guess what? On returning home we discovered we can go back on a package holiday, cheaper than using our timeshare weeks and that the cheap flights were just not available to make it worth our while. Anyone want to buy a lot of weeks for little money?
The rooms seem to have a lot of insects etc (found out they were flees great)the food was very poor usally dried up.And looked almost the same as the night before. The mice behind the chief who cooked the fried eggs in the mornings looked well fed . Thank goodness for the beach resturant, we would have most of our meals there .It looked clean and the food was cooked fresh. we have been to other hotels in puta plata before but never any thing like this , we changed room 3 times .
This was my first time abroad and i loved every minute of it. Me and my partner went at the start of December 06 and i really didnt want to come home. The weather was fantastic, the staff were all very friendly and made you feel like you were part of the show. The rooms are cleaned every day and they certainly have a very high standard. The food was wonderful and i have never eaten so good in my life. The shows at night were the best that i have ever seen and they were different every night. I would advise against buying anything on the first week as they seem to charge double then it is as we discovered to our cost, also i would not advise going to the flee market as they tend to be a rip off.
We are planning to go again very soon and i would recommend it very highly to anyone who asked. Loved every second. Miss the sunshine.....
I went to Fun Royale with friends over the first week of march in 2007. We had an awesome time! The food was really good -especially the Italian a la carte restaurant- and the staff amazing! The rooms on the Fun royale side were nice, though I didn't not see the Fun Tropicale ones.
The entertainment staff were so much fun, and always up for a good time. The dancing in the shows was really good and overall quite entertaining.
The beach is only a short shuttle ride away and really beautiful.
The resort was jumping 24 hours a day with 3 on resort bars (one 24 hours) and one on the beach as well.
The resort also featured a disco which they say closes at 2am, but really will stay open as long as people are still there dancing (oh and yes, I forgot, but there is a bar in there as well).
Overall I had a good time. Was it the nicest resort I've ever been to? No, probably not, but it was definitely a great time.
Me and my partner came back from this hotel in April and i must say the hotel is nice. It was always clean, something to and entertainment despite all the rain!!! It rained 11days none stop which wasnt great but all the same not the hotels fault.
The food was nice a choice for everyone. The noght club was a bit small as i refferred to it as a 'sweat box', but the entertainment was when given a chance good.
The drinks were well overloaded with alcohol if thats what you like, and i think the adults only pool is a GREAT idea.
Not much nightlife outside complex, we did venture twive and of course being all inclusive filled sprite bottles with relevants spirits to take!!hehe
Very nice hotel, a shame about the Weather!!
well i've just finished a holiday there went from the 25th of march to the 8th of april and i have to say it was amazing the staff are wounderful the food is what i exspected and there was something for everyone as i have a friend who has alot of food allgerys and still managed to find something different to eat every night!
the entertainment was really good! the only really thing i found annoying was our shower floated our appartment 3 days running and on the first day someone was sent out told us it was fixed but it wasn't and they didnt send anyone out again after that! the night life is really good they have a club on grounds that is amazing and there is something to do for everyone! it was awesome!
but all in all i loved it here the people the food the atmospher it was so amazing!
so i would recomend this hotel!
Returned today from the Fun Tropicale and were never so glad to be back home in our lives!-from the first day the Hotel was a seedy "Butlins" style resort in urgent need of a serious revamp. We had to change rooms THREE times in 3 Days due to the awful condition of the place-to their credit the food was good and well presented but the resort itself had DEFINITELY seen better days-the sheets on the beds were an awful grey colour and were not changed for a week.
We were also plagued by "timeshare" holiday club sellers who constantly interrupted our holiday with badgering requests for us to come and get "information" on the holiday club-yeah- a TWO hour sales pitch selling 8000 holiday timeshare! It got so bad they followed us to the restaurant and beach violating our privacy and ending up being told to F*** off!-Sorry Dominica-you had your chance to shine with us, but this put us off for life- back to Turkey next year I'm afraid!
