The Pluck of the Irish

This portal tomb, or dolmen, in County Sligo in northwestern Ireland, is typical of megaliths - burial places - of the neolithic age in Ireland, beginning around 3500-2000 B.C. In the background is the limestone hill known as Knocknarea; if you look closely a its summit, you'll see a large mound of rocks. It has never been excavated, but is believed to be a neolithic passage tomb, quite possibly that of Medb, the fabled warrior queen.
