Ohio.Bombshell Carmen Electra is always on the go. Typical itineraries include recording a new album, film and television projects – two movies on the horizon are “Book of Fire” and “Monica” – modeling, writing books, leading dance troupes, and dating (or marrying) celeb bad boys. One thing that’s certain – the public can’t wait to see what she’s up to next. What may surprise fans – Electra has a streak of sentimentality that makes her seem like, well, the girl next door from
What’s something you never fail to pack in your suitcase?
High heels; I never leave the house without them. What I do leave at home – my more expensive jewelry in lieu of pieces from Pascal Mouawad’s collection.
Carry-On or Check-In?
Both. I don’t pack very well, so I just bring everything and regret it later.
Window or aisle?
Do you bring food with you on the plane?
After security, I usually pick up a slice of pizza or my fave Carvel vanilla soft serve with rainbow sprinkles. Oh yeah, and a bottle of water is a must-have.
What’s your idea of the perfect vacation?
Heading to a sunny, tropical place with good friends.
Tell us about a vacation you’ve taken that’s coming close thus far
When I was 12 years old, my mom won a trip to Hawaii through Publishers Clearinghouse. She decided to make it a mother-daughter trip, and now, every time I go back to Hawaii, it reminds me of her and our precious time together.
What’s the worst annoyance you’ve experienced while traveling?
While going to Dubai, the airline lost my luggage and I had to buy new clothes, makeup, and shoes for a red carpet event as soon as I landed. I was in a bit of a panic, but luckily Dubai had everything I could possibly want, and my trip ended up being beautiful.
What’s the silliest souvenir you’ve ever brought back from a trip?
Salt and pepper shakers and silly knick-knacks. I search for the most ridiculous things I can find and give them to my friends as gifts.
Ever try a food you wished you hadn’t?
Black pudding, or blood pudding. When I was in London, someone tricked me and told me it was chocolate. I took a huge bite and spit it out immediately. So disgusting. I feel nauseous just thinking about it.
Favorite hotel you’ve ever stayed in?
The Hotel Plaza Athenee in Paris.
Favorite restaurant you’ve discovered while traveling?
I was taking a walk down a side street in Cortina, Italy on a day off from shooting when I stepped into a small, local restaurant that had the most amazing homemade pasta I’ve ever tasted. I wish I could remember the name, because I definitely remember the food.
Biggest regret you’ve ever had while on vacation?
While in Berlin, a friend and I decided to venture off and get a tattoo. After taking a cab far away from the hotel, we decided against the tattoos, but couldn’t find our way back. After walking for what seemed like hours in the freezing cold, we finally found a subway, where we got lost. We were off and on the train all night.
The one thing you’re willing to splurge on.
Fashion. It’s hard to resist when in Paris.
What’s on your travel playlist?
I don’t have a set playlist; the environment that I’m in inspires my music choice. If I’m going for vacation, it’s reggae, if I go to NYC, it’s hip-hop and if I go to Europe, it’s dance music.
Where would you take someone visiting your hometown (Sharonville, Ohio) for the first time?
Skyline Chili and Kings Island (Amusement Park and Water Park).
You only get one more trip in your lifetime. Where will it be?
Back to Hawaii; it feels like home.
