Sadly disappointed!

I was expecting a charming, well-maintained older hotel. The actual location was lovely with a fabulous view from the Baker Lounge on the 4th floor! However,I was immediately turned off by the old, very dirty shag carpeting in our room. I kept my shoes on to avoid walking on it in my bare feet! The window air conditioner blew right on the bed at my husband and myself. It was either that or warm and humdid in our room. I had to ask to have the sheets changed on our arrival, as it appeard that they had been slept on previously. We both found the bed to be uncomfortable. The box springs were noticeably sagging. The balcony off of our room was a shared balcony. We had dinner at the Baker Lounge which was ok. They lost our order and it took over an hour before our food was delivered. They did not charge us for the food, which was appropriate. The staff was very friendly and helpful! They seemed like nice people.I think that perhaps there isn't the financial backing to adequately maintain the hotel in proper grandeur! We wouldn't plan on going back, unless I read that it has totally been redone.
