Amazing Value in the heart of Old San Juan

I stayed two nights prior to my cruise at the Hotel Milano and was happy with the service and amenities and thrilled about its location. In my search to find any hotel under $300/night and having previously visited old San Juan and knowing the area a little, I was thrilled to find the Hotel Milano in the heart of the old city for a more than reasonable price. When I called to make the reservation I was asked whether I preferred a room with an ocean or a garden view. Since I was looking for value, and the garden view was some $20 cheaper I went ahead and asked for the garden view. On arrival, we had a good laugh as the room had only three tiny windows, two made of glass block that you cannot see through and all of them so high above our heads we couldn't see out unless we jumped up and down on our beds. Luckily we have a sense of humour and didn't let it bother us. THe only amenity lacking was an in room safe although there is a safe at the front desk where belongings could be left. The room was basic but clean and the service was curteous, friendly and helpful. Located right on Fortaleeza Street, we had no lack of amazing restaurants, and were within walking distance of everything there is to see and do in the old city. I don't think it is an exagerration to say this hotel is possibly the best value in Old San Juan.
