Brazil Hostel is a terrible place in a very dangerous area!!! We paid a $30 USD deposit through HostelWorld. Arrived on NYE & the owner tried to charge us double the confirmed booking rate or he would kick us out. When we decided to leave he refused to return our deposit. The owner was rude, aggressive, greedy & didn't care that we had no place to stay. Don't go to this hostel - there are way better ones everywhere!! We found a much nicer hostel for less than 1/2 the price in a safer area - the New Ipanema hostel. Try that or others in the same laneway. Great vibes.
