Great place for families

Our first trip to Cancun and we decided to stay at the Royal Caribbean resort. Must admit.. absolutely loved the place. Had high expectations going in and the resort met or exceeded them. Would definitely recommend this resort for families travelling with young kids. Our two youngest were in heaven with the pool complex. For young/learning swimmers, the Royal Caribbean resort has a great setup with a large 2' deep pool for the young ones. We stayed in a 2-bedroom villa at the resort that was situated right off the beach (building H). It had amazing views of the beautiful Cancun surf. Would agree with other posts that the Cancun beach is no longer good/friendly for swimming. I talked to locals about this and they indicated that ever since hurricaine Wilma (Aug 2005), the beach has never been the same. While I would have liked to have visited Cancun pre-2005, will admit we still found the beach nice - just not swimmer friendly. Too many rocks and the surf (post-Wilma) that hits the shore quite strong. Also loved the onsite grocery store and gift shop which had good prices, overall. There's also an onsite laundry area, workout room and travel agency which we also used and found each of those to be excellent. Especially for families looking for a nice place to stay in Cancun, we would give the Royal Caribbean resort a very strong thumbs up for consideration.
